Ichikawa Zoo posted that there will be a new method for Punch during feeding time. Will yesterday be the last day we see Punch clinging to the zookeepers? Or see him jumping suddenly inside? Could it be the decision because Punch is getting heavier or he was seen pinching...

Along with Punch, some of the other monkeys are also kept inside so they can eat separately with him. That is why there was few monkeys are there during mealtime. Sometimes Punch came out and clung to the zookeepers because they had let him out at that time. They may be allowing this once a week so they can gradually reduce his bonding with the zookeepers instead of stopping it all at once. #punch #punchmonkey

Some people were wondering where Punch plush toy was. It is always there inside the cave. He brought the plush toy out again yesterday before feeding time because he was scared. Thankfully Shikano was aware he was inside the cave & Miyakoshi also knows now when Punch brings the toy out during feeding time, that means he's scared. And he directly brought Punch inside without trying to put him down ❤️. By the way, Punch was okay. No need to worry. 🎥: Connect Japan

2026.07.05 🗓️ ‼️OH No, 🫪 Lil’ Punch! 🙈 Punch was wrestling 🤼‍♂️ with 💥 TWO BABIES and the 👀 Mama immediately 💥 scolded him! NOW, I will say that Punch handled it very well. He didn’t scream and seemed to understand why he was scolded. Plus, if I’m going to be honest, the babies appeared to be overpowering him! 😂 These babies are sassy‼️ Overall in my opinion, this is how Punch grows. Because the babies will likely continue to want to play with him, and let’s face it, Punch wants to play with them too.✨❤️‍🔥 #punch #ichikawazoo #punchi cr. listed in video clip 🙇🏻‍♀️

2026.08.22 🗓️ Three days… two precious reunions 🥹 Day before yesterday it was Papa Kosuke Shikano, and today Papa Shumpei Miyakoshi gave Punch a ride 😭❤️ After almost a whole month of separation, Punch still didn’t forget either of his caretakers… maybe the zoo is slowly returning to the old plan? 🤞 Thank you so much for these happy moments, Ichikawa Zoo 🙏 The day is coming very close when we won’t be able to see Punch from September… 😭😭

2026.02 🗓️ (Circa) ‼️✨Oh, how I miss you, 🥺 Grandpa Sotomaru. 😭 You were always firm with Punch, yet constantly there for him. So, Punch always turned to, “YOU,” for comfort or simply to be held, even if you did the scolding. 🤭 And you, uncharacteristically, always obliged Punch, much to the zoo’s bewilderment. Be well, dear Grandpa Soto. 👑 May you be blessed 🙏 with good health and the company of Punch for years to come. I hope I see you soon.✨❤️‍🔥 #punch #ichikawazoo #punchi #sotomaru

Miyakoshi tried his best to get Punch to go eat with the other monkeys. He even put Punch down halfway, but Punch refused and climbed right back onto him. First, Punch wrapped himself around Miyakoshi's neck because he was nervous about the other monkeys screaming, and then he covered Miyakoshi's face with his tiny hands especially his nose! 😂 Miyakoshi couldn't do anything about it and ended up blushing. ☺️☺️😁 #punch #miyakoshi

5/1 Punch was standing alone at the door, continuously peeking outside, waiting for his friends. 😞😭 It's heartbreaking to see Punch like that. But when Shikano arrived, Punch immediately clung to him and wouldn't eat anything. Maybe he was feeling cold after the rain had continued all day. When Shikano asked him to get down, Punch refused and hugged him even more tightly. In the end, Shikano carried him inside. ❤️ #punch #punchmonkey

Yesterday, just before the zoo closed and Monkey Mountain’s curtain came down for almost three weeks… around 4:30 PM, Punch climbed up and sat in that one spot where he could be seen so clearly from the back row. Everyone was recording him. It felt like he knew we wouldn’t be seeing him for a while and wanted to give everyone one last look. I know he may not understand any of this, but he looked just as sad as all of us watching. 🥺 We might not see you for a while, Punchi… but our wishes will keep you safe.

Punch went to his grandpa and tried to relax for some time, as he feels safe with him. Poor baby he wants to just relax if he is alone 😞. the bullies may be annoying him; it’s better for him to be with the elders or his friends 😞. #Punchmonkey #babymonkey

Punch was with his mom, looking frightened because there was some noise in the background. He seemed scared by the monkeys’ screams and clung tightly to his mom for comfort. 😪❤️ As other monkeys passed by him, it almost looked as though his mom had snatched him away or was protecting him from being bullied. 🥺 But then, suddenly, something happened and Punch was taken away from his mom. It made me worried could he be feeling missing her? 😪 Seeing Punch with his mom brings such mixed feelings. One part of me is happy to see them together again, but another part keeps wondering whether Punch is actually okay or whether he is feeling stressed and overwhelmed by everything happening around him. 🥺🐒. #punchi #punchimonkey #oramama #ichikawazoo

More and more visitors came to see Punch one last time before the zoo closes for a few weeks. 😟😟 Punch sat right at the top, facing the visitors, as if he knew everyone had come to say goodbye. 😞❤️ His videos have become such a special part of our daily routine, and without his updates, everything already feels a little empty. 🥺💔 We’re going to miss seeing our little Punch every day. Hopefully, the zoo will continue to share regular updates during the closure so we can know how our precious boy is doing. 🙏❤️ #ichikawazoo

The face-to-face close-up between the baby monkey and Punch happened. The baby came to Punch, but Punch seemed nervous and avoided getting too close, probably because he was wary of the baby's mother. However, the punch sat beside baby and carefully watched his tiny movements. The baby seems to like Punch very much of course, who wouldn't be attracted to Punch? 😂😂 There is a good chance they will get closer in the coming days. 🐒💕🐒 ! The baby's curiosity and comfort around Punch could definitely lead to more interactions. 😊🥰 Soo heartwarming to watch Finally this happened 😭😪😪 #punch #ichikawazoo

The story of Punch-kun, known as Punch, the baby monkey, who was rejected by his mother. Punch, is a seven-month-old baby macaque monkey who inhabits the Ichikawa Zoo in Japan. Born in July 2025, Punch had to swallow a harsh reality when his birth mother refused and abandoned him shortly after he was born. Seeing this condition, the animal keepers at Ichikawa City Zoo immediately acted as foster parents. However, human hands alone were not enough to help calm the baby primate. Zoo officials then gave Punch an orangutan plushie, which he began treating like a "surrogate mother" or an “adopted mother”, keeping it close while navigating life inside the enclosure. He’s just a baby. Look at that sweet little guy. He looks so lonely. Be strong. God bless you little Punch. ❤️

6/28 Shikano and Miyakoshi both look sad, especially Shikano. His sadness is so visible here. Poor Punch baby doesn't know what the coming days will bring. 😭 His outdoor feeding schedule is going to change no more clinging or indoor feeding. 💔 The real challenge is how Punch will handle this change and balance his feelings. 😢 It must be hard for both of his dads as well. They will surely miss Punch. Miyakoshi seems more composed, while Shikano appears more sensitive and gentle. This is a tough time for both dads and for Punch. 😟💔 #punch #punchmonkey

Regarding "the video of Punch gets dragged around" that appeared to have been recorded yesterday, February 19. This is a statement from the zookeepers at the Ichikawa City Zoological and Botanical Gardens. Fabruary 20. We have confirmed that several videos have gone viral on the internet. When Punch approached another baby monkey from the troop in attempt to communicate, the baby monkey avoided him. Punch then sat down, apparently giving up on communicating with the monkey, after which he was scolded and dragged by an adult monkey. The adult monkey that dragged Punch is probably the mother of the monkey with whom Punch tried to communicate. She probably felt that her baby was annoyed by Punch and got upset, expressing "don't be mean." Punch has been scolded by other monkeys many times in the past and has learned how to socialize with them. In the video, Punch runs to his stuffed orangutan toy after being dragged. However, as usual, he left the stuffed toy after a short while and was communicating with other monkeys. The video was probably recorded on the morning of February 19. During feeding time at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., Punch acted no differently than on any other day. In order to integrate Punch into other Japanese monkey troops, we anticipated that this kind of challenge may arise. Although Punch has been scolded many times by other monkeys, no single monkey has shown serious aggression toward him. While Punch is scolded, he shows resilience and mental strength. When you observe these disciplinary behaviors from other troop members toward Punch when he tries to communicate with them, we would like you to support Punch's effort rather than feel sorry for him.

🐒 Look at this! Punch kun has become very good friends with all the new baby monkeys at Ichikawa Zoo. The zoo had a good idea. They let many baby monkeys be born this year so Punch can play with them and feel happy. And the idea is working very well! The little baby monkeys think Punch is the same age as them. They like him a lot. they always come running back to play with Punch. They spin in circles together. They gently bite each other. They play wrestling. Two babies fight against Punch. They pull each other and roll on the ground. It looks so cute! The babies try very hard to win against their big brother Punch. They look so serious when they wrestle. But they are not scared of him. They know Punch is not too big. He will not hurt them. So they feel safe and happy to play with him every day. These are very happy days for Punch. He now has many little friends to play with! ❤️

Today, there will be no comfort of being with his zookeepers. He'll be fed just like the rest and face this challenge on his own. It won't be easy, but if anyone has shown the resilience to keep moving forward, it's Punch.
