Ichiro is Baseball. ⚾️ At last year’s Mariners Spring Training, Ichiro showed up unannounced, by himself & casually did his thing. When I asked why he was there, a Mariners staffer shrugged: “Oh, he just shows up whenever he wants.” There were maybe 3 people watching.

I tried to do this with a former team but was told that I needed to “leave” and was asked how I “got past security”.

Maybe a disguise like Joe Kelly?

Ty Cobb was the first celebrity Babe Ruth made the game a spectacle Ted and Joe the best early rivalry Satchel the best folk hero Jackie changed the sport and country Clemente similarly for Latin players… Curt Flood changed baseball… And now you can’t tell modern baseball (Shohei and Roki) without Ichiro…
