I remember the insane amount of dumb people who criticized the movie Tenet. If you understand even one scene of the movie, you'd see the genius of it. If that movie was made in the 90s, it'd be the most talked about movie for decades. It'd be shown in film schools endlessly.

So basically the studios are making long form TikTok videos. I guess that’s why I find myself re-watching or finding shows that were created prior to 2020.

This explains why TV has become so difficult for me to watch. Even with “mystery” shows I can typically call the ending 5 minutes in.

This is why shows that ignore that, and make you replay a scene 5 times are the best shows of all time. True Detective season 1 had so much plot and detail that you didn’t catch it all in one watch, you had to watch it several times to get all the Easter egg photos and side plots. Don’t dumb down TV. Trust that we’ll figure it out in the most complex manner. That’s what sells.

I now only watch things that require my full attention. And if I find myself wanting to pick up my phone, then I know I don't really want to watch the movie or TV series.

I sometimes do that, browse social media or even read articles while watching a series. It's because I get bored and have to do something else to fill in. So in my case I'm guessing the dumbed down scripts are causing my doom scrolling, not adapting to it.

First off, I don’t know how many people have noticed that more and more so-called A-list actors are doing commercials today. And, some of them aren’t even high-end commercials. Ah, I have noticed this but not been able to put words to it. This is why I cannot for the life of me find a current series or film on streaming to watch. I turn it off in desperation after a little while because it is so BAD. I get it now.
