Pearls animosity was more blatant for obvious reasons but seeing Amethysts thinly veiled anger is quite nuanced, like a child's apprehension when a parent pays more attention to what could be a metaphor as Greg being a 'stepfather' taking attention away from the mothers child.

Garnet is the neutral and rational one who wouldn't necessarily build up much hate for him. She knew that Rose wanted that and she understood it. The other 2 it was blatantly obvious

We, like, NEVER see Rose and Amethyst react outside of the group. We only get word of mouth. And that bothers me more than anything else, because moments like these never get an explanation. We know how Rose said she was perfect the way she was, but we see nothing about them interacting outside of the Crystal Gems.

Pearl definitely did, considering that she disliked Greg the most before Rose got pregnant. I feel like not enough people recognize that the gems would've been fine with kidnapping Steven from him when he was an infant and fine with Pearl murdering him by pulling his gem out.

Fun fact : This is the first and only time Steven's powers indirectly manifest and disrupt TV signals in the entirety of the main series!

In Amethyst's case it seems to be more codependency than anything. She's lashing out at him because he wants to leave her, not because she genuinely hates him. It's sad as far as I remember they never really addressed this after the episode.

It is very subtle in the show. I think that's why greg doesn't live in the same house with steven and lives in a van, and almost doesn't go there. Mostly, it's steven who goes after his father. Maybe greg knows he is not totally welcomed there

I feel like, even in the beginning, the gems had different levels of animosity towards Greg with a mix of how they view humans. Because even in the beginning, they didn't give Greg a benefit of the doubt and later it's shown more they see him as incapable because he's a human

I once read that this is implying a sort of relationship or previous event between Greg and Amethyst that went further than just watching movies or just being friends. I can now not view it as anything else. It just feels way too…personal. 😐

The subtext of Steven Universe is the Greg was a harem protagonist and the series is the after math of it. This has been stated by the staff multiple times. 90% of this kinda stuff is due to Greg picked Rose instead of them.

None of them really "hates" Greg, it's just Greg is the first human to actually get to know the Gems and the first human to romantically connect with a Gem, so they all have their own opinions and reactions to that.

God this has to be one of the best SU episodes out there, not for what's said, but for what isn't excplicitly shown. There's so much subtext and history these two clearly have, and it's excellent to see Gred have this conflict of interests with Amethyst of all people
