#Torkham crossing #UN aid convoy: No word from #Pakistan and #Afghan side whether the Torkham gate would be opened for the UN humanitarian aid as fresh UN containers Wednesday arrived at Torkham, according to sources. Some trucks were even allowed to move towards the border area from the terminal, where several UN containers had been stranded since October. Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Pakistan Tahir Andrabi announced earlier this month that the gov't has allowed humanitarian assistance into Afghanistan as "the issue of humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan came in wake of formal requests made by certain UN agencies". Now it depends on the Afghan #Taliban side if they open the gate for UN trucks or NOT? A Taliban official told me "Our position is that Pakistan would give a firm commitment that the gate would not be closed in future. No decision has yet been taken to allow the UN vehicles." (Video shared by local journalist )
