Going back to my makers vs takers point, if the primary motivation for an individual to come to this country is to be given benefits, to be given payments, to be given social services, to be given support, I think that that person should be denied immigration. That means that 30% of the population, living under the largest propaganda machine we have ever seen, looked at all of it and said no. Those are not apathetic people! Those are people who stood their ground. And then consider how many of the 70% did it under duress, under threat of losing their jobs. If half of them didn't want to, the picture changes considerably. Andrew reminded me that democracy comes from the Greek: demos, the people, kratos, the power. Power to the people. He asked how powerful the people of Europe feel right now, and the answer is they're scared of their governments. When people fear their government, that is tyranny. When governments fear their people, that is liberty. He said he's confident we're going to get there. There are a lot of us and very few of them, and they are not, he said, intrinsically brave people. I'm looking forward to continuing to build alongside people like Andrew Bridgen .

Too many people have been fed the rhetoric that if you break the law, you no longer have human rights. This rhetoric is not only categorically false, but also morally wrong & incompatible with Christianity. The vast majority of immigrants in America have not broken the law & have no criminal record, and the ones who have broken the law still retain their human rights. No matter where any of us stand on immigration policy, we cannot accept solutions that deny people their human rights, and it’s our duty to demand that our government do better.
