Other people have said it, but yeah - you can ignore them completely. If they have a warrant, knocking was a courtesy & your door will be knocked in momentarily. If you do speak to them, only ask if you’re under arrest. If not, ask for a business card & send them away. ✨

I don't want that relationship with the police. You have the right to do that. But a good community wouldn't have that relationship with their police.

If the homeowner opened the gate for the cops to leave, he must have opened the gate to let them in. Bad move! If the gate is shut, unless they have the proper warrant, no authority can violate the Fourth Amendment by entering your fenced in property.

Without a warrant, the cops have no more right to be on your property than the mailman, or a pizza delivery guy. It’s actually crazy how many of them think they can just sit around on your property being a nuisance, obnoxiously knocking on the door and the windows.

Most cops are reasonable. But if I didn't call them I'm going to use my video doorbell to tell them that I am invoking my 5th amendment rights and will not answer any questions and that I do not consent to any searches. Don't let them claim exigent circumstances to force entry.
