People often imagine the world of Noah as small and primitive. But according to the lifespans recorded in Genesis, humanity had centuries to multiply before the flood. Some estimates suggest the population could have reached into the millions. Cities. Civilization. Generations of humanity spread across the earth. Genesis says God saw that the thoughts of mankind had become continually evil. This wasn’t random destruction from a cruel God, it was judgment on a world that had become completely corrupted. The flood wasn’t the destruction of a tiny tribe with a boat. It was the end of an entire world.

But now, as we've entered into the final judgment of this world, God has lifted His hand of restraint off of the hearts of the unsaved which has revealed the fact that fallen human beings have no true sense of right and wrong or good and bad in and of themselves.

In the earliest Mesopotamian creation accounts, after the departure of the Anunnaki and in the aftermath of the Great Flood, a different group enters the story. The Apkallu, led by Oannes, are said to emerge from the waters of the Persian Gulf and begin teaching humanity the foundations of civilization including writing, agriculture, law, architecture, and sacred knowledge. This was at a moment when human society was super fragile and only beginning again. This raises a set of unresolved questions that the texts themselves never fully answer. Were the Apkallu NHI associated with the deep, possessing an unusual empathy for early humanity? Were they human survivors of a far more advanced pre flood culture, passing on retained knowledge to a diminished population? Or do these accounts describe something else entirely, an interaction that does not fit into modern categories of myth, history, or even speculation? What do you think?

The text says the kings and armies of the world gather for a final battle in a place called Armageddon. Yes, a place. According to the vision recorded by John of Patmos, strange signs appear in the sky, angels descend, and powerful figures emerge as the crazy battle between "godly" and worldly powers. The scene is filled with dramatic weird imagery including thunder, fire, and cosmic chaos as gods and earth seem to collide. The story goes on with Christ returning with heavenly armies to smash the forces against him, including the figures known as the Antichrist and the false prophet. After the battle the enemies of God are defeated and a period of judgment begins. The vision then moves toward a renewal of creation, where the old world passes away and a new reality emerges described as a new heaven and a new earth. The final chapters kinda show a symbolic picture of restoring justice after a time of horsesh*t and conflict. Are we on the cusp?
