“If it needs a sign, it’s bad design.” Streets and intersections can be engineered to reduce the number of conflicts, forgive inevitable mistakes, self-explain anticipated behaviour and self-enforce desired speed. Our interview on the ‘Mobilitetspodden’:

Meanwhile, in Hamilton

Yep, if this was Toronto, there would be electrical poles, individual poles for every type of sign, there would be traffic lights and if there is a bicycle light it will x 2 with a sign indicating this is a bicycle light. Clean and smart street design is beautiful and safe.

The footway is way too narrow in some places 😱 Eg around 0.55...

Now this clip is very cruel, as it just leaves me craving Albert Heijn Rinse Appelstroop.... if there's any room in your pannier bag, it's on the bottom shelf near the ontbijtkoek next time you go (or it used to be before I moved back ☹️ )

All said here is true, but it also implies (not subtly) many value judgements that may not be comprehensively embraced. Believe me not? Put an advocate from Amsterdam and one from Copenhagen in a locked room, and watch the fun. Diff. values allow design to be tuned to the place.

cities need to charge road taxes on bicycles. No free lunch for them.

what is great about this bike lane is that there are no giant concrete blocks on either side so a cyclist can escape if necessary...please pass this onto engineering

As an avid mountain biker and city bike rider, the #1 problem is incredibly irresponsible number of bike riders on the streets. Headphone on ears, ear buds, not looking both ways crossing an intersection.

@Tuxiterano besser?
