Texas was the last CONFEDERATE state that wanted to hold onto slavery…they were confederates NOT the Union. She should learn history before speaking.

Funny how all the Republicans in the south are the ones saying "my heritage" and waving the fucking confederate flag. These people are so insufferable.

My God. Did you all know the United Stated died yesterday because black people had a federal holiday? Wait, we're still here? Huh. Go figure.

Weird that she's saying all that with a don't-tread-on-me flag behind her.

These ‘the-parties-never-switched’ people are the political version of ‘flat-earthers’.

Hey @grok, what was the Southern Strategy?

The Southern Strategy was a Republican tactic starting in the late 1960s to win Southern white voters by appealing to racial anxieties, often using coded terms like "states' rights" and "law and order." It was prominent in Nixon's 1968 campaign and later Reagan's, shifting the South from Democratic to Republican dominance. The "party switch" describes a realignment, not a full ideological swap, with Democrats embracing civil rights post-1964, while Republicans attracted opposing voters. The Confederate flag, once tied to Southern Democrats, became associated with Republicans, reflecting this shift, though its meaning remains debated.

She doesn't know the history about how the political parties began, overlapped and evolved .
