That poor man. So dignified. He's totally right about the deterrent, these type of people won't think about consequences to anyone but themselves when they do what they do. Therefore something needs to be put there that will affect their own lives - tougher sentences will do this

And if manufacturers are allowed to build cars capable of 123mph, then criminal drivers are going to drive them at 123mph. Legislate for engines/motors to be only large enough to reach a maximum of 70mph; and legislate for mandatory gps-speed-limiting to locally signed limits

Such a sad loss. Brave lad. There needs to be a social media campaign where the footage and his experience is shown in a devastating way so people can see the message. These people will not watch BBC breakfast.

I watched this live.Calvin spoke with such clarity, integrity,& an unbelievable level of calm,considering how recent this unimaginable tragedy occurred.Good luck to him & his family... huge respect to Charlie & @TVNaga01 for the way they spoke to this gentleman...

Just seen the footage of this, it's sickening. They need MUCH stronger sentences for crimes like these. 12 years is an absolute insult.

@TVNaga01 Brave and strong lad, Calvin. Good on him for speaking out so soon after his loss. There must be a wider focus on speeding and it’s consequences in social media as these idiots and murderers aren’t likely to watch BBC Breakfast. 😞
