I held a meeting with Prime Minister of Lithuania Inga Ruginienė – this is her first foreign visit, and it is very meaningful that it is to Ukraine. A true sign of support. We discussed everything that is now critically important: continued defense assistance, joint weapons production, and investments in Ukraine’s defense industry. We also spoke separately about the energy sector. Winter is ahead, and Russia continues to intensify its aerial terror and strikes against our cities – therefore, strengthening our air defense remains a top priority. We also discussed Lithuania’s participation in Ukraine’s reconstruction and its assistance in building shelters in schools and kindergartens. Lithuania’s readiness to contribute to the PURL initiative and to join the SAFE instrument is important. We value this and are grateful for Lithuania’s comprehensive support for Ukraine: military assistance, co-leadership in the demining coalition, active participation in the drone, air defense, electronic warfare, artillery, and IT coalitions. All this greatly strengthens our people in their defense.

Ukraine has been under massive air attack since last night, with ballistic, cruise, and cluster missiles, as well as hundreds of drones, targeting people throughout the country. While Russia claims to be preparing for meetings to discuss peace, what it actually does is attack, terrorize, and destroy. Speaking of meetings, Russia has not so far sent us, Türkiye, the United States, or anyone else its so-called "memorandum." No one even knows what they are going to talk about. Instead, Russia launches new deadly attacks against Ukraine. Unlike the mythical "memorandum," we can clearly see and hear Russia’s true “messages”, its missiles and drones. Everyone needs to hear and see that Russia clearly rejects peace, ceasefire, and any constructive proposals from around the world. It is important that the United States joined this format – for the first time. Our current priority is bolstering air defense. Russia is aiming to launch attacks involving up to a thousand drones at once. That is why it is crucial to scale up protection, particularly by investing in interceptor drones. We also discussed the continued supply of weapons from the United States and joint weapons production. We are ready for different formats, including purchasing a large defense package from the United States, jointly with Europe, to protect lives. We also touched on the bill introduced by Senators Graham and Blumenthal regarding additional restrictive measures against Russia and those supporting its war effort. Without a doubt, this is exactly the kind of leverage that can bring peace closer and make sure diplomacy is not empty.
