“If we cannot account for whether we have actually made profits or not, then we might as well just sell everything, give up.” - Prof. Godfred Bokpin, Economist and Professor of Finance at UGBS. He says economic stabilisation should not be pursued regardless of the cost, and that the...

This is why I have a problem with these charlatans. Where was this professor when the BoG made over 66 BILLION in losses in one year? Did he call for BoG to be sold?

1. GoldBod was created to regulate and manage Ghana’s gold sector, including the Domestic Gold Purchase Programme (DGPP). As the entity legally empowered to buy, refine, allocate and sell gold, it cannot credibly claim it “only aggregated” for the Bank of Ghana. If GoldBod had the operational control over sourcing, pricing, refining and delivery, it shares responsibility for the programme’s outcomes—especially where its decisions directly affect costs and revenues. 2. Even if GoldBod’s standalone accounts show a surplus, that does not absolve it from scrutiny over the DGPP’s full cost structure (e.g., hedging, financing, pricing gaps between local purchases and international sales, and any off‑balance commitments). A regulator/aggregator that fails to insist on transparent, consolidated reporting of the scheme’s economics—and that allows ambiguous narratives to persist—is culpable for the opacity and the resulting public confusion. 3. GoldBod is a public institution tasked with restoring confidence in Ghana’s gold value chain. By distancing itself from losses while benefiting from the programme’s visibility and policy cover, it undermines accountability. If the DGPP was implemented “through” GoldBod, then GoldBod must explain how its operations, contracts and pricing frameworks contributed to any shortfall, or publish a full, audited, programme‑level reconciliation—not just an entity‑level surplus.

Account to who? Are they hiding their accounts or what? I mean I thought it was all public. BOG made the loss not GoldBod. Why are they all pretending they don't know what the argument is?

@GodfredA_Bokpin is all over the place with this boisterous noise abt GOLDBOD😂 In the last 20 plus years uncountable university professors have been given government or political appointments yet they always flop; not 1 excelled that I know of but on radio they talk ceaselessly

I see people asking why he did question the originators of the policy.. Single spine was designed by JAK and was implemented by Mills.. They ended up making a mess of it.. I am not surprised at all with these people.. They always take us back when we are making strides..
