“If you don’t create it, someone else will.” Rick Rubin talks about creativity as something that exists in the collective unconscious, and how artists don’t invent ideas so much as tune into them and give them form.

You want to keep the latency between when they do something you don’t like, and when you tell them about it as short as you can.

Rick Rubin can't play or read music, yet he's won 8 Grammys and produced for legends (Jay-Z, Johnny Cash, Adele, Metallica) Rolling Stone called him "the most successful producer in any genre." So what does he actually do? He helps artists access their creativity. 6 lessons from Rubin that changed how I think about the creative process ↓ 1) Be a reducer, not a producer Most people think creativity means adding more. More ideas. More layers. More complexity. Rubin does the opposite. When he worked with Johnny Cash in 1994, Cash's career was considered dead. Labels had dropped him. His albums weren't selling. Rubin's solution? Strip everything away. He recorded Cash in his living room. Just a man and his guitar vibin'. The result was American Recordings — one of the greatest comeback albums in music history. Lesson: Remove until only the truth remains. 2) Trust your taste over your technical skill When asked what Rick does as a producer, he told 60 Minutes: "I have no technical ability and I know nothing about music. I'm paid for my taste." You don't need to be the most skilled person in the room. You need to know what feels right. 3) Create for yourself first Rubin believes you can't make great art with someone else in mind. If you're constantly thinking about what the audience wants, you'll create something generic. Make what excites you. If you have good taste, others will find value in it too. 4) Creativity is like tuning a radio You don't invent the signal. You tune into it. This means staying aware. Paying attention to the world around you. Noticing what others miss. The ideas are already out there. Your job is to receive them. 5) Lower the stakes Feeling blocked? Give yourself permission to make something terrible. Tell yourself it doesn't need to be a masterpiece. It won't impact your career. You don't have to show anyone. The pressure of perfection kills creativity. Remove it. 6) Self-doubt never disappears Even the greatest artists feel fear before they create. Rubin says they don't create in the absence of doubt. They create in spite of it. The difference between amateurs and professionals? Professionals show up anyway.

If you’re still fortunate enough to have a parent or parents on this earth, hug them, kiss them, call them, and tell them you love them. You don’t have as much time as you think.

If you know somebody that’s going through something difficult, check in on them so much that you bother them. Don’t just shoot them a text, show up, take them to lunch. Bother them.

Relationships nowadays are strange. You’ll love someone, but then feel the need to pretend you don’t love them that much. Because if you show them too much love, they might start loving you less. So you end up pretending you don’t love them, just to make them love you more. How did we even get here?” — Man questions.

The people waving the Palestinian terrorist flag don’t care about Palestinians, just like they don’t care about Iranians. They just want Jews and Israel dead. The IRGC raped, beat and killed nearly 40,000 Iranians in just a few weeks…who cares. No big deal. Whatever. As long as that same Islamic regime kills all of the Jews. No problem. They are totally fine with it. This is literally why you don’t see them protesting for Iranian human rights. It doesn’t serve any purpose to them. It is as simple as that. You get it now? They don’t care about Iranians. They don’t care about Palestinians. They just want the Jews dead, and it is completely irrelevant how many beautiful Iranians are slaughtered. It means absolutely nothing to them.

Black peoples for Palestine is more stupid than Queer for Palestine Arabs ki*ll, rape and enslave Black Africans Century before the Atlantic slaves trade, they start all of this and it still happening today in 2025, it never stopped, they don’t see black peoples as humans, they see them as slaves, same as Muhammad, in America they manipulate them and use them for future Islamic uprising but they don’t care about them, you will not find one Arab Muslim in America or anywhere else that condemn black slavery in Arab countries today or in the past

#JAYB talks about the importance of consent and respecting personal boundaries 🗒️ why would i need a boyfriend? where could i find someone as handsome as jay b? 🌴 everyone, this is what i think. i won’t say much more. well… you can do as you please. but every interaction requires the other person’s consent. otherwise, everyone, that’s a crime. that’s absolutely not okay. i trust that our ahgases wouldn’t do that. right? and you shouldn’t be subjected to something like that either. (if someone does) i’ll bite (?) them for you, so go hit them. never do something like that

Pay homage, but don’t build your identity so close to someone else that people never allow you to evolve past them. Admiration can open doors… but too much can create a ceiling.
