If you ever created a Design System, you know how much documentation it takes to get it to a decent level and provide a solid foundation for your team's work. What if you can assign a Figma agent to do all the documentation for you? This might be the...

Here is my workflow: > Create documentation templates in Figma and turn them into reusable components. > Add component description. Ask a Figma agent to help you formulate it and even do it for you. > Write a set of rules on how you want to structure the docs (e.g no uppercase text styles, 50px spacing between artboards etc.) and turn it into a reusable skill. > Now every time you need to come up with a nice on the brand documentation for new components, fire up Figma agent chat → Load up your skill and ask to create a documentation for "X component."

@figma Can it flag when the source file contradicts the documented rules, instead of quietly documenting the drift?

@figma I think not having to read or generate a ton of documentation and let the agent do that work for you would be the way to go!

@figma Yes. Compared to external agents, Figma agent already knows the context of your file and every nook and cranny of it. You don’t really need a hand holding for it. Super handy.

@figma I created a custom Figma doc page template that lives with our components and built a custom plugin that extracts all relevant content and details and generates markdown files for our doc site. Working on a Claude skill that auto populates our doc templates in Fig to round it out

@figma I find Figma’s agent less hungry on tokens since it already has the file context

@figma That's a good point. I built this before MCP server was supported at our org so it was kind of a workaround, but I managed to sanitize the token inputs to our doc gen model quite substantially. There's a lot of erroneous data in figma, for docs anyway.

@figma It turns out that AI is indeed very helpful for designers :)

@figma I was skeptical at first, but after I saw what the agent did, it unlocked so many cheat codes for me.

@figma There are specs plugins, or even easier way with claude + md file how to create docs and how to write all specs inside figma with basic figma mcp .. this is kinda it?

@figma I only use what I've personally tested and know it's durable. I don't use plugins and opinionated .md files.

@figma docs are the half nobody budgets for… the components were the easy part
