If you ever felt worthless, remember this plot was left unexplained. Numbuh 1 made a report about the war between kids and adults, and how kids actually CREATED adults, then turned against them, and despited it look like it was just made up story, the episode ended on this note.

Remember back from Trial 1 that didn’t sound like much at the time…until you actually look at what was said… and who it was said about. I’m talking about the text exchange on the morning of January 29th. Nicole Albert texts Jen McCabe We’ll get more info tomorrow. Don’t want to text about it. And Jen responds Right. Then Allan Jackson asks Jen what that meant. Jen says the reason they didn’t want to text was because their kids look at their phones…her kids look at her phone… Nicole’s kids look at her phone…and they didn’t want things getting out of their little circle. Her words. They weren’t being secret, she says…they just didn’t want to text certain things… because the kids might see. Okay. Sounds reasonable… if you’re picturing little kids running around the house grabbing the ordinary soccer mom’s iPhone. Except there’s a problem with that explanation. Nicole Albert’s kids were not little kids. Kaitlan was living in Easton with her boyfriend Tristan. One son was in the military, across the country. And the youngest, Brian Jr., was turning 23 years old. Twenty-three. So this was not a situation where second graders were scrolling through mom’s messages looking for snacks and cartoons. These were adults.Adults with their own lives. Adults not living at home. Adults not borrowing mom’s phone to play Roblox. But according to Jen, the reason they didn’t want to text about whatever they were talking about…was because the kids might see. Right. You wanted to keep it in your “little circle,” correct? Correct. You didn’t want it all out there? Correct. Nicole didn’t want certain things in text? Correct. So the text itself says one thing...Don’t want to text about it. And the explanation later tries to make it sound like this was just two moms being careful around their children. Except the children were grown adults. Which makes the explanation sound less like parenting…and a lot more like not wanting a written record. This isn’t a group of people unfamiliar with investigations. This isn’t a group of people who don’t know how police work. Brian Albert was a longtime Boston Police officer. A seasoned veteran. Someone who understood exactly how evidence works, exactly how reports get written, and exactly how text messages can end up in court.
