If you haven't seen my posts before, I share my experiments on solving engineering related problems with AI, designing fun and interactive science apps, and occasionally making games with AI tools. Here's a preview

Some of you might think the model (Fable in this case) did it because it had the details in its training data. The reason I chose an orrery mechanism is that there are so many variations of it that the model probably doesn't know the math behind all of them (check Google Images if you're interested). Fable's thought process also showed that it didn't have prior knowledge of this specific variation and figured it out on the fly. For historical mechanisms or items with missing details, it's going to be much more complicated. But the advantage of using AI is that although it might not come up with the exact solution the first time, it can generate thousands of solutions in a relatively small amount of time and cross-reference them with all the texts where that item is mentioned — something that would normally take years

Made this while testing if AI can work out the math behind a mechanism Just from watching a video, no prior knowledge There's a real possibility we can use similar techniques to reconstruct historical mechanisms we have little detail or missing sketches for
