If your coach doesn’t swing it anymore for whatever (enter excuse) it’s a 🚩 . My favorite is when people say “I dOnT hAvE tImE” . Bull💩 because there’s always time 🤷🏽‍♂️ That’s just my opinion & here’s why:

1. Being able to swing it with my guys creates an unbeatable coaching experience. You’ll be amazed by the coaching tips that come to mind while your swingin’ it.

2. So now, that que or whatever it was sticks and you pass it on to someone who you now are able to pinpoint EXACTLY what they’re struggling with instead of guessing your way through it

3. So then you pass that tip on to the next guy: and guess what it most likely will end up helping them… and then it keeps getting passed on and now everyone improves 📈

🔻The moment you stop swinging, you stop teaching yourself.. so you can teach others. Teaching NEVER stops therefore learning shouldn’t stop either. So in closing: Keep swinging, cuz learning never stops.

📝 I didn’t fully grasp HLP until I exposed myself. Video doesn’t lie. The process was hard, it was frustrating, and oftentimes led to slamming things out of frustration, and feeling like I should just quit…. Then it clicked.

So if this is you: keep swinging, keep asking questions, and do not quit.

Nah. The next time they pay guys to hit in the cage will be the first! I don’t have to “swing it” in the cage to prove anything! It’s called a career. That’s what guys can’t seem to understand !!😂😂

I respect your passion, but I find it deeply problematic to reduce a coach’s value to whether they can “swing it.” Not only is this a biased perspective, but it borders on discrimination. Some of the best coaches—whether older, disabled, or focused on observation—don’t swing, but they excel because of their deep knowledge & ability to connect with players. A good coach should have knowledge in physiology, biomechanics, pedagogy, psychology and #baseball experience, to truly help players. Swinging might provide personal insights, but the 🚩is that you don't mention the reality of your players! Probably because you don't it at all... Here is the list of what you should know about your athletes' reality, to coach them well : Cardiovascular: - Resting Heart Rate (RHR) - Max Heart Rate (HRmax) - Heart Rate Variability (HRV) - Blood Pressure (BP) - VO₂ max - Lactate Threshold Respiratory: - Lung Capacity (e.g., tidal volume, vital capacity) - Ventilatory Efficiency (VO₂/minute ventilation) Muscular & Neuromuscular: - Muscle Strength - Muscle Power - Reaction Time - Muscle Fiber Type Profile (Type I vs. Type II) - Muscle and Tendon Elasticity Energy & Metabolic: - Body Composition (fat mass, lean mass, bone density) - Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) - Substrate Utilization (carbs vs. fats) - Blood Glucose Levels - Blood Lactate Levels Hormonal: - Cortisol - Testosterone - Thyroid Hormones (T3, T4) - IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor 1) - HGH (Human Growth Hormone) - Insulin Inflammatory and Immune: - C-Reactive Protein (CRP) - Cytokines - White Blood Cell Count (WBC) Recovery: - Sleep Quality and Quantity - Hydration Levels (electrolytes, urine osmolarity) - Muscle Recovery (DOMS levels) Mobility & Flexibility: - Joint Range of Motion (ROM) - Fascial Tone (stiffness or elasticity) Neurological & Cognitive: - Reaction Time - Motor Control (coordination, balance) - Focus and Mental Stress (EEG, psychometric tests) - Autonomic Nervous System State (via HRV) Nutritional & Hydration: - Micronutrient Status (vitamins, minerals) - Hydration Balance (osmolarity) - Energy Needs Assessment (caloric intake/output) You can probably see that it is more complex than you swinging a bat and share cues with your clients. And I am not even talking about injury history, conditioning plan, performance monitoring.... Let’s stop valuing surface-level traits over real coaching skills. Swinging a bat is one tool, but it’s not the measure of a coach’s worth. It is much more complex than that! Keep your passion, because we need passionate coaches. But passion needs to be fed, so learn more...

Stats are posted online. Couldn’t swing it when you played….so why should someone believe you can swing it now cuz you call yourself a coach?? Interesting
