By now, you’ve probably seen some of the spicy clips (coarse jesting) from the Rift TV episode with Right Response Ministries. What Joel’s enemies won’t show you is the intro from the following episode, in which E and Pastor Joel addressed the controversy head-on. My view is that these conversations between men are essential for where we are at in our society, and they’re going to happen whether you like it or not. Personally, I’d prefer that a godly pastor like Joel be involved. That said, these streams aren’t meant for everyone. Women, children, and effeminate men should refrain from watching. The language is not sanitized or longhouse-approved. Get over it, or just don’t watch. Link:

One of the stranger claims I see online is that reducing CO₂ would somehow be “the end of humanity because we need CO2 to breathe.” In reality, the carbon we exhale (not inhale) is part of a short, natural cycle: plants take it in, we eat the plants (or animals that ate them), and we release that carbon back into the air within a year or so. What’s not natural is digging up fossil fuels—carbon that’s been locked underground for millions of years—and releasing it all at once. For a long time most Jewish organizations and Jewish leaders in the world treated these false claims against Israel and the Jewish people as absurd, and on their face, ridiculous. And so we ignored the claims, and we let them sort of lie and fester for a long time. And one of the big criticisms that I've heard about my book, Israel on Trial, especially from Jewish organizations, is, "Well, we shouldn't give these these allegations the time of day. We should ignore them. We shouldn't put Israel on trial, we should put Hamas on trial." All of that, I think, is fair. Hamas should be on trial. But the opposite is not necessarily true either. And I think the strategy we have taken over the last 20 or 30 years—of ignoring these claims—has proven to be a fatal mistake. And the reason for that is whether in the law or in sports or in politics, when you ignore the other side's argument, you lose. That's just how it is. No matter how flagrantly absurd the argument is. In the law, if the other side files a motion, it's an adversarial system, if you don't respond to it, the judge isn't going to delve deeply into the correctness of the motion. They've got 300 other motions to deal with. If there's an unobjected to motion, that motion is granted by what we call default. The same thing happens in sports. If one football team arrives on the field and the other team doesn't show up, they win by forfeit. And so in either case, not rebutting the arguments that you believe are frivolous has allowed these arguments really to spread like wildfire across our population, both in our young people and even now bleeding into people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. It's a very dangerous game we've been playing, and we were wrong to play it. The point of my book is to be patient with these arguments, show people that we can engage these arguments, and that on the merits they are totally false and frivolous as a matter of fact and law.

“The climate has always changed” is a common talking point to distract from recent-more rapid manmade climate change. Here’s a quick/simple explainer on natural CC. Natural climate change occurs over long term scales driven by predictable changes in sunlight reaching & absorbed by Earth. Over 10s of thousands of years Earth’s orbit, tilt and wobble cycles back and forth causing an ice age every ~100K years. Orbit: from more circular to more elliptical and back. Tilt: 22° to 24.5° and back. These cycles change the sunlight received/ absorbed. Over the past million years this means Earth cycles in and out of ice ages and interglacials. (Now we are between glacials) A surprising note… the global temperature difference between an ice age and warm period is only ~6°C/ 10°F, but that change takes 10K+ years to happen - until now. Over the past 150 years alone man has warmed Earth by 1.5°C/2.7°F - so about 1/4 of the amount which typically takes nature 10K+ years to accomplish. A super-charged acceleration due mainly to burning fossil fuels & forests! True: The climate has always changed. Also True: Humans are now a force of nature, super charging the natural warming rate.
