I like Spanner as a character, but I hate that he's the reason for Ben's canon relationship. Seriously, his role can be anything else but to establish Ben's relationship with Kai is unacceptable. Not help that Ester dumped him at the last minute which ruined him more.

I personally don't know why Kai is being forced to be Ben's overall end-all be all because there have been better girlfriends he has that could've fit that role. Such as Ester I believe she and/Eunice(though she was a robot unfortunately)or even Julie(who was Ben's longest lover)
