The Avishkar Hyperloop project is a student initiative at the Center for Innovation, IIT Madras. The team has been participating in international Hyperloop competitions and has achieved significant recognition. In the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition 2019, they were the only Asian team to reach the finale1. They also won the ‘Most Scalable Pod Design’ award at the European Hyperloop Week 2021. The team’s latest pod, Avishkar 5.0, secured a place in the global top 5 in three categories during the European Hyperloop Week 2022. Their most recent pod, Garuda, achieved top rankings in various categories during the European Hyperloop Week 2023 held in Edinburgh, Scotland. The team’s future plans include constructing a 400m long vacuum tube facility at IIT Madras and establishing a Centre for Hyperloop Excellence in collaboration with the Indian Railways and L&T Constructions. They are also aiming to organize a Global Hyperloop Competition at IIT Madras using this facility, making India a global center for Hyperloop Research.

True. They have developed a prototype of a Hyperloop pod, a futuristic mode of transportation that could travel at speeds of up to 1,000 kilometers per hour. The pod, named "Garuda," is the only Asian team to compete in the European Hyperloop Week 2023 competition, where it placed among the top three teams in certain technical categories. Garuda is a completely in-house design, and it features a number of upgrades over previous prototypes, including: A Linear Induction Motor designed by the students, which is also the pod's primary mode of braking. Bidirectional run capabilities. EMS levitation with a high lift-to-weight ratio. Extreme power efficiency.

Students work hard and do well, the problem is, these inventions stay a prototype only, for lifetime, no support system kills it.
