Does Israel have the right to self defense when Hezbollah attacks? Absolutely. Would now be a good time to defer that to help President Trump negotiate? Absolutely. A public statement from PM Netanyahu that they will pull back in return for a guarantee of support if no deal is done seems wise. Iran is using Hezbollah to create issues it can exploit in the negotiations as I told Johnny Joey. Israel is being blamed for responding and the damage they do to Hezbollah cannot be decisive in ther current situation. If Israel makes the move to say they will make no retaliations and only take purely defensive shoot down operations against missiles and drones (for a set time) it removes that ploy by Iran. If Hezbollah continues to attack it will prove to the world who is the actual aggressor in spite of the lies told by the media. This will gain tremendous good will from the US which can turn into promises that ending Iran's support for Hezbollah is a must have for a final deal. And also that if there is no final deal the US will support Israel destroying Hezbollah and fully enforcing the UN resolution requiring no terrorists South of the Litani river in Lebanon. I would even go so far as to request US agreement that Israel can maintain a buffer zone inside Lebanon until the situation stabilizes enough that Hezbollah no longer presents a threat to Northern Israel. This could also be part of the ongoing negotiations between Israel and the actual Lebanese government being conducted with help from the US State Department.

To call on Israel not to act in self-defense is reprehensible. By saying that Israel had a "win" simply because no one died encourages belligerent dictatorships like Iran to strike again. I'd like to hear from one politician who would call for restraint if hundreds of missiles and drones were targeted at the United States. America should support Israel if it decides to strike back.
