I’m not denying environmental concerns at all. My point is that outrage shouldn’t be selective. Almost every modern convenience we use daily like phones, streaming, cars, cloud storage, etc has environmental and human costs. AI isn’t unique in that. If the standard is “avoid anything harmful,” then consistency matters, not singling out one tool while normalizing others. AI didn’t invent exploitation or environmental damage; it exists within the same system as everything else we rely on.

AI isn’t universally necessary, but neither are most modern technologies. Its value depends on how and why it’s used.
