Why wouldn’t we want the best state tournament as possible, keeping 2 out of 4 of a region is just people being in positions of no change. Tweak the system and make it right. Let the best 8 teams play in state tournament. These girls work hard to be there.

I think what Steve is trying to say is seeding points should mean something. The way it is now , no region can get more than two teams to state and in some regions they may be able to get four there if they went to a 32 format.

Yep, I understand that. My thing is people act like teams from those said regions get automatic bids to state. Once postseason starts seed points don’t carry any weight when the ball is tipped. You still have go win games.

I haven’t heard anyone say it’s an automatic thing. 32 would greatly reduce the chance of having top teams knock each other out prior to State. Using your logic we might as well go back to District play.

What’s your definition of top teams?

I like the idea of 32, with that being said several lower seeds win last night, a couple of them out of a tough Region who if Seeded to 32 wouldn’t have been a pairing. I don’t think it’ll affect the quality of games though at the state tourney.
