Last week I had the honor of being recognized at the Iowa vs Penn State wrestling match, back home where it all started. I don’t take moments like that lightly. Iowa shaped who I am — my work ethic, my values, and my standards. To stand in my home state, surrounded by family, and feel that level of support was humbling in a way that’s hard to put into words. Much respect to the Hawkeyes for going to war and putting up a hell of a fight against a tough opponent. The team showed true effort, grit, and accountability. People ask me how many hours a day my phone rings. The answer is about 18. But one phone never turns off. My secure phone stays on 24 hours a day, even while I’m sleeping. It rarely rings in the middle of the night, but when it does, it’s never good news. If that phone is ringing at 2 AM, something important has happened and I’m taking the call. The rest can wait until morning.
