I'll never understand how they carved sounds into records

“Carved sounds into records” 😂 Sound is vibration. All they did was carve a specific pattern into the record that, when paired with the vinyl material and the needle, creates a vibration that emits the music on it.

Sound is literally carved into a phonograph record because the groove undulations are analogous to the sound waves they represent. The early 78 RPM record (left) contained about four minutes of analog audio per side.
