Illegal mining is not an issue; the headache is kidnapping, cattle rustling, banditry... We know who they (bandits) are & where they live. It's just that there is no political will. If there is, you can crush these guys in two weeks. - Gov. Dauda Lawal, Zamfara #SunriseDaily

No political will to fight bandits and criminal elements from a governor is heartbreaking 💔

This is one of the most frustrating and infuriating statements to hear from this governor. You were elected to protect your citizens, yet you claim there's "no political will" to tackle bandits. Bandits have brought dangerous weapons into your state illegally, but you refuse to use state resources to eliminate them by force. Bring in foreign assistance if necessary to ensure the safety of your citizens—that's your duty as an elected official. You don't need approval from Abuja to protect your people. Use the state resources, period.

@oluwalekeroyals @AjibolaAwosanya see what a governor is saying on national television. The political will he is referring to is that of those above him in the hierarchy of government. The irony is that Matawale is am the current minister of state for defence.

No Political will you say? I don't blame you, because you can go to Abuja and share FAAC. Wait till we restructure revenue and resource control your political will , will come out by force otherwise na hunger 🤣🤣

Proper mining exploration could potentially reduce banditry and kidnapping in Zamfara, the effectiveness of such a solution depends on the willingness and integrity of the state government. But hear this lazy Gov. He said no political will ! SHAME!

We hate to hear the truth. Nigerian soldiers have been saying the same things this governor said in this interview. The banditry has been politicalized. Governors don't have the power to control the army hence there is no political will to crush these bandits. We should be asking the people who have the power to control the army why they haven't crushed these bandits.

It requires great boldness and courage to speak the truth, as Governor Dauda Lawal did today. The soldiers and police are not accountable to the Governor, and the politicians in charge of the security sector are not addressing the ongoing issues in the region. Governor Dikko Radda also recently made similar statements.
