NEW: 81-year-old Ohio man William Brock charged with murder after shooting and killing an Uber driver who he thought was trying to scam him. 61-year-old Loletha Hall is dead after Brock thought she was a phone scammer. According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Brock had gotten a call from a scammer before the incident. "Mr. Brock received some scam call by a person purporting to be someone from our courts who informed him a family member was incarcerated and that he had a bond of a significant amount of money," Lt. Kristopher Shultz said. "The calls turned from 'I'm an officer in the court' to 'We have this subject hostage, this is a ransom demand." The scammer then requested an Uber ride to Brock's home to pick up money. Hall, who had no clue what was going on, approached the front door and was met by Brock who shot and killed her. New surveillance video shows a man with a machete threatening a driver during a carjacking in Manhattan last week. Police said the 27-year-old driver was sitting in his parked Honda on West 11th Street in Greenwich Village when three male suspects forced him out of his car and stole it. He faced multiple charges – but was ultimately granted supervised release by a judge despite prosecutors’ request that he be held on $5,000 cash bail or $15,000 bond. He was previously nabbed on March 12 for allegedly punching a 31-year-old woman in the face inside Penn Station just before 11 a.m. that day, cops said. Daniels was charged with misdemeanor assault, but was ultimately granted supervised release on the non-bail-eligible offense. In a swift breakthrough, Attapur police arrested a 37-year-old man within 24 hours for allegedly murdering his wife following prolonged family disputes and suspicion regarding her character. The accused, identified as Avinash Irbaji Kalne, a native of Nanded district in Maharashtra, worked as an auto-rickshaw driver and mason. Police seized a vegetable knife, a vegetable peeler, an iron rod, and the accused's mobile phone during the investigation. According to police, the victim, Soni alias Komal Avinash Kalne, married Avinash on March 23, 2013. The couple had two sons and initially lived a happy married life for nearly eight years. However, frequent disputes reportedly began after the accused developed alcohol-related habits and started neglecting family responsibilities. Komal worked as a housemaid and supported the family financially. Investigators revealed that the accused frequently suspected his wife's fidelity, leading to repeated quarrels. In 2025, a criminal case had already been registered against him in Maharashtra for allegedly assaulting and attempting to kill his wife during a similar dispute. He was arrested and later released on bail. The family subsequently moved to Hyderabad and settled in Tejaswini Nagar, Attapur. However, the disputes reportedly continued. On the evening of June 4, a fresh argument broke out between the couple, which was mediated by the building owner and the victim's brother. Police said that at around 4 a.m. on June 5, the accused allegedly entered the residence through a window and launched a brutal attack on Komal. I’m livid‼️‼️‼️ Still shaking as I type this ‼️‼️‼️‼️ A BRT bus crushed the front of my vehicle at about 6:40pm this evening on my way from work. Everything is broken. The bumper shattered, the lights destroyed, the bonnet cover removed 💔💔💔 It happened at Obalende with several eye witnesses. Even with the traffic light which was green for our lane to pass, there was also a civilian at the junction controlling traffic, yet this driver crushed our car 💔 After waiting in turn for the vehicles at the other side of the road to pass, the other lane(where the BRT was) was stopped and our lane was passed… …as soon as we moved an inch, a BRT bus with plate number EKY564XY (driver’s face in frame 3) drove in full speed and collided into our car, destroying car parts worth hundreds of thousands💔💔💔 In shock, we (I and the person driving) came down to assess the damage, and to make videos and capture the plates before he runs, but to our surprise and that of everyone around, including the civilian passing traffic, the BRT driver claimed to not have seen us and that he had right to speed and ram into our vehicle the way he did. Then I explained that we had already paid for the dog and it was already ours, but nothing changed after that. The dog was taken to Moldova and they wrote: “there is no veterinarian at the border who issues the EU certificate, so we are waiting for one to appear.” We were outraged but agreed, because the agreement was for LEGAL transportation!!! Remember this moment, because later Artem (the transporter) will explain everything with this EU certificate. As it turned out later, the dog was with his relatives in Moldova, who also deal with transportation (Ruslan +373 695 71 399). The transportation of the dog was ultimately carried out by a passenger transport company (Baltik Tour — +380 63 060 5614). In the second week, we started calling, arguing, and saying that we would pick up the dog from Moldova and transport it ourselves. All this time, we did not know how exactly the dog would be transported - we were told that it would travel ALONE WITH THE DRIVER. In the end, the dog was sent to us. I wrote you a message on WhatsApp, but we gave it sugar and it seems to have recovered a bit. Go pick it up and take it to a veterinarian if you want it to survive…” Then we went to pick up the dog 100 km from Warsaw. It was barely breathing. They told us it had just been running. We take the dog, go to a taxi, and they tell us: “Where is the money? Pay or we won’t let you take the dog. If it dies - you will deal with the transporter.” Then we went to a clinic and did tests. With 90% probability, it was a stroke, which led to severe neurological issues: the dog could not walk, eat, or drink, and was relieving itself while lying down. After the transport, it lost 30% of its weight, which has now caused gastritis, it also picked up parasites somewhere, and many other problems. Please, be careful and only trust animals to people you know personally.
