“ilya’s doing everything he can to push shane away & realizing that shane won’t be pushed. That is what ultimately rocks ilya & breaks him a little bit. For whatever reason, he can’t scare shane off, & that is terrifying to ilya.”

Even more terrifying was when his feelings for Shane scared him off and he thought he might lose him forever.

the music intensifying once ilya realizes that if miles is there, rose is there & if rose is there, shane is there. shane realizing the same when he sees ilya’s teammates. the music fading out once shane sees ilya, then shifting to the reverb-y re-mix gagged is an understatement

genuinely in love with the way ilya just GETS shane like he wants to rage bait him a little but notices that shane is genuinely upset so he's like "it is, listen" sygnaling to shane that it's all about him and ilya's love for him and the second shane relaxes ilya teases him again

thinking about how ilya couldn’t really remember what shane said to him the first time they met but something ilya does remember is shane’s warm hand when he shook his. that warmth is something that stayed with ilya all these years. shane brought warmth into ilya’s world

Shane’s face shifting to serious after he asks “and if you win?” bc that’s Shane asking Ilya what he wants. After all the tension & time apart does Ilya still want him the way he wants Ilya? As far as Shane is concerned, their fate hangs in that moment before Ilya kisses him.

Even tho Ilya brushed it off, Shane sees right through his act and he is conscious how much his running away last time actually hurt Ilya. So it's so important that Shane acknowledged that and apologized for it. Cause contrary to what Ilya certainly believed, it wasn't anything HE did that made Shane flee, it was just Shane's own fears/insecurities talking. To reach that level of intimacy with Ilya, calling each other's names, that was one step too much at that time.. But it was NOT Ilya's fault. He needed to hear that, truly 😭 #hollanov #heatedrivalry

i love that in the middle of them having this intense conversation shane immediately catches on that ilya is crying and goes to comfort him. he doesn’t push ilya to keep talking, that’s literally shane’s baby

to be clear, ilya isn’t saying that to be provocative. he’s not trying to make shane jealous. he is trying to find a temporary solution that would help him eventually be able to be with shane for good. a way for him to cut his ties with russia so that they could get together.

dont think abt how ilya prob turned away & said sorry bc he grew up with a dad & brother who mocked & abused him for showing any emotion that could be seen as weak so he expected shane to judge him but instead he comforted him & it just brought them closer

I’m sorry but THIS Shane and Ilya scene is permanently stuck in my head. 😭 The way Ilya is always so obsessed with Shane, acting like that around him while Shane is trying to stay on the phone like nothing is happening??? 👀 Shane and Ilya really carried *Heated Rivalry* on their backs.

i love the fact that ilya is so in love with shane that he takes note of everything he does. like of course he knows where shane left his phone and that it's been ringing all morning. he is THE loverboy.

The way Rose's friend Miles went straight from flirting with Shane to trying to pull Ilya without knowing that he's down bad for Shane and Ilya knows Miles is in Rose's crew because he's been tabloid stalking Shane's relationship with Rose's and that is how he knew to instantly turn around searching for Shane. That is some real 6 Degrees of Longing and Yearning. #heatedrivalry #heatedrivalryspoilers

When people say Shane doesn’t love Ilya, but here he is, asking with tears in his eyes if Ilya wants Shane to go away, because he was ready to sacrifice his own happiness just so Ilya could have safe, “normal” life with a woman

"The way i always thought about it, what Shane is hearing, cause he can't speak Russian, is just the most beautiful sound he can think of. And to me, the most beautiful thing to listen to is the Moonlight sonata." the fact that the most beautiful thing for Shane is Ilya talking to him in Russian. Cause in that moment, there's no barriers left between them. He might not understand, but Shane can feel how Ilya is finally opening up his heart. How liberating, how real that is. They're on opposite sides of the world, yet they've never felt closer than this 🥹 And the very reason why Shane cares so much later on, about learning Russian, about offering Ilya, a chance to communicate in his mother tongue. That's love❤️ #hollanov #heatedrivalry

i love how ilya instantly understands that shane’s nerves kick in after everything settles and that his reluctance to see each other again isn’t disinterest but fear, so rather than letting shane back out, he gives him his number so shane knows he can talk to him 🥹

we always talk about how baby and adorable shaney is here, but i always pay extra attention to the anxiety in ilya’s eyes, the hard swallows, shane immediately wanting to hold him when he sees that ilya is scared… ilya is always baby☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️
