Dermatologists are notorious for this, they're also well known for only seeing patients for a max 10 minutes per visit with a cash fee of $250. Quite the business to be in

Hearing stories like this, makes me feel fortunate to live in a country where I've never had to, and never will, worry about "medical expenses". Health care is a fundamental right.

Try "free" health care in Canada. They will make you wait for your free operation until you die.

I had a tooth issue in the US. They told me it’d be a few thousand without insurance but like maybe a few hundred with. Obv was 100 more hoops to jump through at that point so I never did it Then went to Spain, went to one place; they said we can do it today for $150. Done ✅

The system isn't broken, unfortunately this is our system working as intended. It benefits everyone but the patient. I've heard hundreds of stories like this. They know you won't spend hours on end on the phone chasing a couple hundred bucks. You'll get frustrated and give up
