You cannot use it under the temporary imports legislation, as you’re not visiting the UK, you’re a permanent resident. So, the only option available is to get it officially registered in the UK. However, as part of that process, you need proof of vehicle approval, which you cannot get for the @cybertruck in the UK. Therefore, the vehicle isn’t insured. And any vehicles used on public roads without valid insurance, can be seized until S.165 of the Road Traffic Act.

Well if the car isn't legal in the UK then the insurance won't be valid

Clueless officers probably. Fair enough if it’s not insured or whatever but that’s not what they posted online. They say it’s illegal to drive it here which isn’t technically correct.

As you said. It was seized under RTA 165 for no insurance. The car was registered and insured in Albania but was owned and driven by a UK resident so would need UK insurance and it didn’t. As we know unless you modify it then it won’t he covered by UK insurance companies.

Serious Question for @elonmusk

Trade plates are a potential short term solution Yianni? Could be deemed to be conducting 'on road testing'?

What he said and also, because of what he said, whatever insurance you say you had is invalid.

So the cybertruck in your pinned post isn’t the same one as in the police post? They look identical. Both have Albanian plates. Yours is AB 224Y and the one in the police video has an Albanian plate that looks like it goes AB 2… What a coincidence. @faisalislam

Sound like how they take e-scooters(that are not part of a trial/share scheme) or unrestricted e-motorbikes. As a "thing" they are not illegal, but you can't get valid insurance to ride them on the road, they don't need to prove anything about legality of the item at this stage.
