@tubesockor Can you load a sid and then play the individual instruments via midi? There was a program for the c64 that did this but I don’t think it was finished….

If you search for “stomach” in the letters of Charles Darwin (link below), you’ll see that for most of his life he was tortured by stomach pain. It made him miserable and a recluse. We now know the cause. In an exceptionally niche scoop for my podcast, Nobel laureate Barry Marshall (Barry Marshall) reveals that, according to a yet-to-be-published paper Barry coauthored with a friend, whiskers from Darwin’s beard were collected from his desk by his maid after he died and were preserved. Some of these whiskers came into the possession of Barry’s unnamed friend. PCR testing on the whiskers has revealed that Darwin was infected by the stomach bacterium Helicobacter pylori. His problems were most likely caused by this bug - not by the “nervous dyspepsia” his quack doctor put them down to. H. pylori was rampant in Europe in the 19th century, and was likely behind the stomach ailments of many famous figures, from Darwin to Alfred Nobel (who also suffered chronic stomach pain) and Napoleon (who was probably killed by stomach cancer at the age of 51). Today, it's eminently treatable, thanks to the work of Barry and his late collaborator Robin Warren. Makes you grateful to live in the modern world (also, PCR is truly an incredible technology).

Video of the attack of the russian Shahed-136 drone on the territory of Romania on September 4th. The sound of this drone can be heard in the video. It reduced the engine speed before the strike, which is typical for the Shahed-136 at the moment of hitting the target. At the time of the attack, there was no air defense work in progress, which means that the drone actually hit the territory of Romania as it was programmed to do by the russians. Gabor Maté on what trauma actually is: Asked "how do you define trauma?", Gabor Maté offers a definition that reframes how most people understand the word. "Trauma is a wound. The important distinction to make is that trauma is not what happened to you. It's what happened inside of you as a result of what happened to you." He illustrates this with his own story: "My trauma wasn't that my mother gave me to a stranger. The trauma was the wound which is that I perceive myself as not wanted. I perceive myself as abandoned. Who gets abandoned? Somebody who doesn't deserve to be loved." That internal wound, he explains, then shapes an entire life: "So then I developed this sense of not being good enough, not being lovable enough. Now that means I spend much of my life trying to prove that I'm good, that I'm lovable, that I am important, which then drives all kinds of behaviors which then create more problems." I love trains in video games. Imagine my delight to see that Assassin's Creed: Syndicate has one! 🚂 This thing is crazy. You can run atop it, inside it and hide amongst the passengers. You can also DETACH cars from the rest of the train which is hilarious 😂 The sound design in this game is top notch. The light rays gliding across the train's exterior is also quite nice.
