I’m fairly certain this was a set up. Either way, it’s been an honor to write CITIZEN and more importantly to live it. I hope you’ll check it out!

Starting today, I hope you’ll tune in to the 1619 project, a docu-series hosted by the one-of-a-kind Ida Bae Wells. It was my absolute honor to direct episode 104: “Music”. Nikole, thank you for your friendship, trust, and inspiration! Check it out on Hulu!

Q: how has the reception been from the fans? Emily: “it’s been an absolute dream, i couldn’t have imagined it to have gone this way. it’s unreal, and i’m trying to take it in as much as i can and not fuck it up for them.” and Mike’s smile after hearing that last sentence😭

Caleb Williams says he doesn’t care what people think about him painting his nails “One day I was with one of my exes and we were going to the nail salon, and she was like, ‘Why don’t you get this?’ I was like, ‘Fuck it. Why not? I know who I am. I know what I like.’” “So I did it, and then it ended up becoming three nails, four nails, five, six. At a certain point, I was actually doing it because you can’t write stuff on your tape. So I was doing like ‘F Texas’ with the horns-down symbol. I was trolling. I enjoy trolling.” “The nails thing is just something I used to do. It used to be a little bit more of a motivation thing. Now I do cool designs on it. Now I do supportive things. I’ve done the mental health number on it, suicide prevention number, breast cancer awareness.” “It’s like wearing pink cleats and pink headbands. It’s just gel on my nails. People feel a certain way about it in a masculine sport, and I give no fucks, to be honest with you. I could care less.” “I’m going to keep doing it. It’s unique to me. It’s a cool way to embrace certain things and show love to certain things.”

Almost 10 years ago we started making this film, but it never had closure because I wasn’t flying at the time. I was crippled by anxiety and trauma and had convinced myself I would never get on a plane again. At one point I told my manager, “Let the documentary come out when I’m dead.” I’m still here. And today, the documentary is out on Hulu. I hope my story can inspire someone who needs it the way I needed stories like this when I was a kid. For anyone who feels trapped, like their dreams are out of reach or certain things just aren’t accessible to them, I want them to know they’re not as far away as they might seem. I hope it can encourage anyone dealing with trauma, addiction, fear, or anything else weighing them down to keep going and overcome it. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. More than anything, I hope everyone who watches can take something from it. I’m grateful to be alive, grateful for this life, and grateful to live it in honor and memory of the friends and family I’ve lost along the way. Thank you 🙏🏼

Leigh-Anne opens up about why she left her label and went independent: “I’ve been in a group for so long, if I’m gonna do this [solo], I’m gonna do it on my terms. There was a moment where it was just a battle, and I’m like, ‘I don’t need this anymore. I need to be able to have complete creative control.’ I had a song and there was so much back and forth with it… and it was like, ‘Why’s there now ten versions of this song? You’ve literally just taken all of the essence…’ I was like, ‘I can’t’. I wanna be able to go and write a song and not have to send it to somebody and be like, ‘Do you like this song?’ Because I like it, so it’s coming out!”

I had a blast doing Gold Magnet for GamingPlush64’s new battle. GP64 is a long time friend and it was an honor to take on a character from one of my favorite games. It’s out on youtube RIGHT NOW! Check it out.
