ALL school children in America should be told the story of Galveston not emancipating its people held in slavery at the end of the Civil War and needing wait for the arrival of Martial Law and General Granger who, on 19 June 1865 signed 5 General Orders which were published in the Galveston Daily News on 21 June 1865; the most important of these and the best remembered is General Order #3 which is shown below. No, I did not know this. I always wondered why they have it in Pan-African colors to begin with. I love the Juneteenth original flag. It should be exclusively used, especially because Galveston,TX, is its origins, similar to the Texas Flag, and Red, White & Blue.

Yet they have no problem letting other groups have their flag days, traditions and group specific events.
