My favorite memory on Santa Monica Beach was visiting years ago like way over a decade ago the first time I moved to LA and just thinking I felt like I was in heaven It was so incredible being on the beach with the sun and sand and wind and pier right there and then… I kept hearing this weird little noise like a clipping sound, not too far away I glanced all around and finally I looked to my left about a dozen feet away and there she was…a homeless drug addict (who I had to assume was a former prostitute) clipping her VERY long, gnarled toenails right there next to me Some of the toenail chunks caught in the beach wind and went flying around I sh*t you not it was the nastiest thing I had ever seen at that time (I hadn’t been to DTLA yet) I got up, left Santa Monica Beach and never went back for over a decade Welcome to LA y’all watch where ya step 🤦🏼♀️

They have a much better view than I do 😂

Ocean front!

Not excited to step in the inevitable human waste (hopefully) buried in that sand

Poop land mines.

@moseskagan Funny, I was out there this morning and didn’t see any poop. In fact, in 7 years have never seen any out there. The only poop here is your bullshit clickbait.

@moseskagan They literally bury in holes next to them. You're not going to see it.

@moseskagan Well that makes for an incredibly convenient evidence free story for you! Now why exactly are they all burying it? Was there a memo shared or something? 🤡

@moseskagan 😂😂 You must be new here. It's well known, and very well documented. Here is a photo I took.

Maybe go with “Latrine Hole Beach.”

Oceanfront living is actually very in reach

What are you doing to help these people?

Personally, I do lots for these people. I know many of them personally. As far as my campaign, i'm going to mandate that they get mental and drug rehabilitation because 70% of them can't take care of themselves and are not of sound mind to do so. I'm going to stop the body brokering, and insurance fraud that keeps bringing these people here from out of state. These people are used and abused like pawns by the current city leadership and non profits for cash. They pushed them out of downtown to look nice for the tourist. If we are going to spend resources doing this, you may as well move them into care. What have you done?

I volunteer and help as much as I can but I’m also not running for any political office. Thanks for the response

Of course. I'm glad to hear that. It's one of the best feelings in the world. Have a good day.

You too! Glad people are tying to help unhoused by treating them like human beings instead of like zombies.

Who’s handing out sleeping bags to these fentanyl zombies

Probably the county to make them look good for the World Cup.

As a former resident, how bad the Stockholm syndrome is of everyone living there is something that needs to be studied.

Honestly if I was homeless, it’d be there or Hawaii! Perfect weather and perfect view, not to mention everything California would give me for free.

Remember the days when laws were enforced and people were not allowed to sleep on beaches?

But I thought this was illegal to sleep on the beach.

In Manhattan Beach, we actually deport our homeless to Santa Monica🤣🤣

Derrick I’m 71 grew up there, my parents owned a hotel outside Pacific Ocean Park in1949! I took the bus to the beach every day every summer until I was in college! There were people sleeping on the beach back then, we knew to wait for the lifeguards to chase them off!

I'm cool with something like this if it requires a permit, has rules, and has a specific space that a person can be held accountable for.

Apparently only non law abiding people can get away with this.

Santa Monica is a homeless armpit...been going downhill ever since Jane Fonda's husband was Mayor--he destroyed it...

🙄🤨Why do we put up with this?

We're been forced to.

Can’t even get a registration for a camping spot for a night in the summer on the state registration.! Should we just bring all our gear to the beach?

Just an FYI. The bathrooms close at night, these people are reliving themselves in the sand. Way to go @santamonicacity

Holy shit. Was there 20-25 years ago. I thought that place was heaven. Guess 20 years is forever ago

They are destroying our city with these nutjob policies. Who is going to keep paying 4-5k+ rent to live here…??

It's a spiral. People vote EMPATHETICALLY to leave the homeless be, then vote ANGERLY to have someone move the homeless during the day and clean up their toxic messes when people like them want to go to the beach. Repeat. Just keep homeless away with laws and forced relocation, hopefully an institution/rehab of some sort.

Visited 5 years ago and it looked like this, recall a tour bus emptied and the asian tourists taking pictures of homeless instead of scenery, just great Ask Newsom what he did with the billion$ that was supposed to help these people.

Not the worst idea a homeless person has ever had. I’ve never understood why homeless people stay in cold areas. Just start walking south and/or towards a beach.

If I were homeless. I would sleep on a beach. If I were bored... I would sleep on a beach.

Camping out there once in awhile would be a dream.. I love waking up by the beach. When the homeless do it repeatedly they make it stink. Homeless do not know how to clean up after themselves & respect the areas they use. No wonder the ocean is filthy & fish are dying now.

Bet most of those are not from here.

Hey homeless need a place to sleep too. What little joy they may have in a day, at least they awake to a beautiful view.

i’m from LA and i don’t mind people sleeping on the beach or streets as long as they are gone by 7am.

They bury their garbage and human waste in holes next to them. The bathrooms close at night, and dont open til around 7 as well. I think that's the bigger issue for sanitation and the environment

Watch out for used needles in the sand.

Imagine what is left in the sand for people to step on.

it's like a giant kitty litter tray with little piles of shit

@Dan34017970 SAMO, shit since 1986 with a beautiful ocean view. Never gonna change

Non-shithole beach cities enforce beach curfew.

Please pay Millions and Million for ocean front property. Many get it for free. I saw them lined up at Venice Beach a once awesome place to go.
