Cursor’s final interview is a non-negotiable two-day onsite where they simulate solving real problems. This would be a recruiting team’s nightmare. CEO Michael Truell admitted the company has tried to get rid of it several times. But this strategy is so critical to hiring for talent density that Cursor brought it back every time. Narrative violation: Anthropic's Head of Growth says we'll need more PMs, not fewer. "While PMs and designers are getting leverage from AI, engineering is getting the most leverage right now. If you think about a default team with 5 engineers, 1 designer, 1 PM—with Claude Code, that five engineers is like 2 to 3x'd, and the PMs and designers have also increased, but now they're managing what is effectively a much larger group of engineers. So though the head count and the org structure hasn't changed, you're now just dealing with a situation of maybe 15-20 engineers, 2 PMs, and 2 designers across the board. We're feeling PM and design is just being squeezed. Just absolutely squeezed. We just need to actually hire a ton more PMs."

Founders, investors, and people of Tech X, you've probably seen me talk about "Little SaaS", and how this new breed of tech company is able to do much with little. I am not sure you understand just how small these companies can be. - No big engineering team - No big product team - No big design team - No big support team - No big sales team Thanks to GenAI, we are talking next level lean. They will generate crazy amounts of revenue for their founders at high growth, but will not result in crazy hiring in support of that revenue growth.

I see a lot of designers who want to stay "designers," like the role is some kind of warm, fuzzy blanket focusing purely on experience and aesthetics. But this is not how the best designers think. In my interview with Soleio on what separates top 1% designers from mediocre designers, he says it brilliantly: “If you delegate impact to PMs, you cannot ask for the title of excellent.” At the end of the day, it’s your job -- not your manager’s, not your PM’s, not your CEO’s — for your design work to change behavior positively for the user

One of my favorite is Scout, built by a small team outside of R&D! Scout has indexed hundreds of millions of merchant feedback items from Social posts, video feedback, and all our customer support channels. Then it makes it available (via MCP) in our internal librechat tool for deep research. I use it all the time. Asked the team to do a demo:
