This is a first look and beginner guide to Dolphin XR, the revival of DolphinVR rebuilt for modern VR in 2026. In this early test, we go through the basic setup, how to get games running in OpenXR, and the first steps to start experimenting with VR controls and configurations. It is still a work in progress, so expect issues, tweaks, and per-game adjustments, but the potential is already huge. full video here:

Zelda BOTW VR Mod Releasing In 2 Days! 5 years ago, Crementif began doing the “impossible”. Trying to port one of the greatest games of all time into full 6DOF VR with motion controls. But being a Wii U game, this was an entirely different kind of challenge. Through way too many sleepless nights, Crementif stayed with it, and is finally releasing his mod free and open source in 2 days! Here’s just a few of the features: - Full stereo-rendering with 6DOF (not AER). - Full VRIK, hands and arms support. You can drip yourself out in all the fanciest clothes. - Fully and physically wield weapons, torches and bokoblin arms into combat. - Gestures to equip and throw weapons. - Use motion controls to interact with the world to solve puzzles or start fires. - Optional third-person mode. - Large mod compatibility. BetterVR only modifies the code and no game data. Most other mods should be compatible. Zelda BOTW has some of the best physics and in VR, a whole new world of what you can do opens up.

Finally, after all these years, GTA San Andreas VR has arrived on Quest 3 standalone 🤯 But not officially and not thanks to Meta or Rockstar, but thanks to a modder GeT_RiCh (creator of the VR mod for GTA Vice City on PCVR and Quest) who in a few weeks did something that large corporations had not been able to do before - he created a mod that added a VR mode to the game and ported it to Quest 3 standalone 🤩 Modders once again show that nothing is impossible for them 😃

Un-freaking-believable. This is Half-Life 2 running standalone on the Quest 3 and dang it looks and play great already! It still has it's issues as it's in active development but dang, this is insane. Check out the Flat2VR discord in the comments for more. These mod devs are doing amazing work!

Most people think VR is strapping a screen to your face. For me it’s complete escapism. Stepping inside games I love versus watching them on a screen is life changing. #VisionPro pushes for far interactions but is that the best way? With gaze and pinch, #Apple seems to discourage developers from implementing more direct hand interactions into their experiences. There are certainly some advantages but I thought the whole purpose of #VR and #spatialcomputing was to be immersed and feel like you are interacting with #digital objects as if they were real. I am even more convinced after testing this SDK from SpectreXR that takes advantage of the Nvidia physics engine to make hand interactions feel more natural. Would you use more direct interactions like in the video or stick with far gaze+pinch?

Haven't had much time to work on the mod but Max Payne in VR standalone on Quest 3 already feels pretty amazing. This is just the tutorial level but the baked lighting looks really good on Quest. Frame rate is solid so far too and bullet time is awesome. Now I just need some hands and two handed gunplay and I'll try an actual level 😅.
