Zelda BOTW VR Mod Releasing In 2 Days! 5 years ago, Crementif began doing the “impossible”. Trying to port one of the greatest games of all time into full 6DOF VR with motion controls. But being a Wii U game, this was an entirely different kind of challenge. Through way too many sleepless nights, Crementif stayed with it, and is finally releasing his mod free and open source in 2 days! Here’s just a few of the features: - Full stereo-rendering with 6DOF (not AER). - Full VRIK, hands and arms support. You can drip yourself out in all the fanciest clothes. - Fully and physically wield weapons, torches and bokoblin arms into combat. - Gestures to equip and throw weapons. - Use motion controls to interact with the world to solve puzzles or start fires. - Optional third-person mode. - Large mod compatibility. #VisionPro pushes for far interactions but is that the best way? With gaze and pinch, #Apple seems to discourage developers from implementing more direct hand interactions into their experiences. There are certainly some advantages but I thought the whole purpose of #VR and #spatialcomputing was to be immersed and feel like you are interacting with #digital objects as if they were real. I am even more convinced after testing this SDK from SpectreXR that takes advantage of the Nvidia physics engine to make hand interactions feel more natural. Would you use more direct interactions like in the video or stick with far gaze+pinch?

Haven't had much time to work on the mod but Max Payne in VR standalone on Quest 3 already feels pretty amazing. This is just the tutorial level but the baked lighting looks really good on Quest. Frame rate is solid so far too and bullet time is awesome. Now I just need some hands and two handed gunplay and I'll try an actual level 😅.
