What you’re actually angry about is being challenged for using your rank and reputation to cast suspicion on lawful civilian leadership before a single order was ever issued. You know better. Civilian control of the military is not optional, it’s the line that separates a republic from something far darker. When a senior retired officer encourages troops to pre-judge or distrust elected leadership, that crosses out of dissent and into something dangerously close to sedition. Your sacrifices matter. So do the sacrifices of countless others who don’t weaponize their service to justify behavior that would never be tolerated in uniform. This isn’t censorship. It’s accountability. Free speech does not include a free pass to erode constitutional order and then cry persecution when called out for it.
