Lmaoooo, your ethnicity is “Congolese”? 😂 This is exactly what I mean when I say some of this FBA discourse is built on ignorance and a lack of basic research. Congolese is a nationality, not an ethnicity. Congo is home to numerous ethnic groups and peoples. You can’t lecture people about African identity while getting something this basic wrong. And this is exactly why I’d like to see these arguments tested in serious settings—with actual historians, anthropologists and scholars who study African peoples and identities.

There should be 4 distinctions. Black American (slave descendants), White American, Native American, and Immigrant American. Asians, Hispanics, Africans, Caribbeans, Canadians, Europeans, etc and their children all fit under Immigrant American. That solves all the confusion.
