Was driving around in Chicago years ago, we got close to Cabrini Green, someone told us to get out of there.

It's interesting that this doesn't happen in other countries. Japan, or even the packed, dilapidated soviet era apartment complexes in Russia don't have any problems. What is the reason?

Japan is different, I mean the ppl there have really high expectations & the respect they show to others is beyond anything I’d ever expect from Americans, we are different. Idk about Soviet apartment blocks, maybe it is the same? I know someone who escaped in the early 80’s, he said there was crime but not to the same extent. @CivokNilam any insight?

I've had an office in Moscow since 2018 and communicate with them frequently. 92% of Russians own their own home - apartment or otherwise. This could be a factor in the "pride of ownership" among the people living in the old soviet apartment buildings. They're "condos".

Pritzker's BUILD act will do this throughout the state, from the burbs to the farms. That act will also limit local zoning authorities from preventing multi-dwellings in single family housing zones.

Ultimately this is what they want, to control ppl in the name of helping ppl.

As I often visit the EU-based housing projects I disagree with this video. What matters is not whether the Govt controls your housing or not but the quality of tenants that use it. In other words if you import 3rd world behavior you will get 3rd world outcomes.

That’s another argument to be had, I won’t totally disagree with that but in the U.S. the common denominator is the government. I am a product of the system, my mother married the government so I know what happens & the mindset that ppl have when you’re given the minimum & promised the world.

The Section 8 and other programs that benefit black and other minorities is a form of reparations that actually never work long term. It's to keep the peace in a society full of contradictions based on human nature. Unfortunately it works until a certain point when it doesn't.

It actually is a great idea. There was no need to leave your housing project. When they tore them down they were moved into a lot of different neighborhoods. That's when the trouble really started

Like most things plans were made when money was available, then enacted with the thought that over time they will build their own sustainability. Once they found out that the communities expected to partake in upkeep through simple decency didn't give a shit it fell apart.

Assuming everything in the video is true (doubtful), then the real issue is that they didn't discriminate. They took anyone who was poor, including criminals. They should have been kicked out. Plus overcrowding. How do you accept more ppl than you have housing for? Etc.
