I’m sharing this video so every Mumbaikar can understand why we need an immediate halt on all road-digging & construction work until our AQI improves, along with far stricter dust-control enforcement. I urge citizens to join me in petitioning माझी Mumbai, आपली BMC for clean, breathable air. #RightToCleanAir #CleanAirForMumbai #MumbaiAQI

Digging Up the Dirt: Exposing Mumbai's Road Scam My colleague, former corporator Mhatre Sheetal Ashok visits IC Colony, Borivali to audit an ongoing road concretisation project— only to uncover blatant violations of norms, road engineering principles, and basic common sense. If this sounds familiar, it’s because the same scam is playing out all across Mumbai. The Mumbai road concretisation scam is the biggest in the city's history. While alert citizens of IC Colony, along with Mhatre, have now forced BMC and its contractor to rectify defects, it’s time we've a citywide movement to hold this government, माझी Mumbai, आपली BMC, and their contractor friends accountable. Mumbaikars are suffering. Taxpayers are being looted. This mess needs to be fixed. Join the Movement: No Corruption Meri Gully Mein Mumbai Congress's #NoCorruptionMeriGullyMein campaign invites every Mumbaikar who demands better roads and real accountability to take a stand. Let’s hold those in power accountable. Mumbai deserves better roads, not bigger scams. 🚨 What’s happening in your area? Tell us! 📸 Send photos/videos to Mumbai Congress or tag me. We will amplify your voice and fight for your concerns. Look out for: 🚧 Roads dug up for no reason 🚧 Roads dug up forever, with no work happening. 🚧 Newly made roads that were dug up again because of damaged utilities or poor quality. 🚧 Streets where walking has become an obstacle course. The mindless, unplanned, chaotic road digging in Mumbai has upended the life of lakhs of residents. The city now resembles an archaeological dig rather than a well planned metropolis. Only 266 road concretisation projects have been completed whereas 930 roads are dug up across the city. This has made daily commute miserable for Mumbaikars. Today, as part of our #NoCorruptionMeriGullyMein citizens' campaign, I visited Road No. 19 and 20 in Khar- a textbook example of the shoddy, unplanned work plaguing Mumbai. Shockingly, the work order for these roads was issued in January 2023, yet work only began in October 2024. Since then, progress has crawled at a snail’s pace. The deadline of May 2025 looms ahead and we will now see hurried, shoddy execution of work. Here is what we observed while walking through all the rubble lying around : 🚧 Roads have been dug up so recklessly that there is no space to walk. Many senior citizens reside here, and schools are nearby, yet no proper provisions have been made for pedestrians. 🚧 Work has been dragging on intermittently for months, with residents frequently facing water and electricity disruptions. 🚧 Some stretches have been half-completed, while the other half remains in a dangerously dug-up state, leaving no room to walk. 🚧 In some parts, one has to get inside the compounds of housing societies to be able to walk ahead, affecting privacy and safety of residents. 🚧 No responsible person was present at the site. The माझी Mumbai, आपली BMC had promised that engineers will be available on road concretisation sites but we didn't find anyone. My questions to the माझी Mumbai, आपली BMC and this anti people government: 🚩 Mumbaikars were promised concretised roads by 2025, but all we are getting is dug up roads and chaos? While contractors have profiteered, Mumbaikars are enduring the pain? Who will be held accountable for these delays and the chaos? 🚩 Why should citizens put up with roads mindlessly dug up all across Mumbai? 🚩 Why is Mumbaikars tax money being wasted by digging, re-digging and patching up newly made roads? 🚩 Why are water and electricity connections being disrupted by contractors frequently without any consequences? Who takes responsibility for this? 🚩 Why aren't contractors being penalised heavily for delays and disruptions? 🚩 Why isn't the माझी Mumbai, आपली BMC and the state government taking responsibility for the mess created? Why has no official been pulled up for this? Mumbaikars need answers, do not test their patience. #ReclaimOurRoads #MumbaiRoads #Mumbai #Concretisation #MumbaiDeservesBetter M.N.C.D.F Craters of Mumbai (Potholes ka Parivar) Roads of Mumbai मुंबई Matters™🇮🇳 Bandra Community bandranews_com Bandra Buzz Bandra Youth group

Recorded this today around 7 pm (19/05/2026) in and around Sector 50 & Nirvana Country, Gurugram, extending toward Sector 65. After noticing very poor air conditions, I drove roughly 1.5 km through the area for a wider check. What I saw on ground is hard to process. The worst conditions were concentrated around Sector 65, blanketed in dust - multiple active construction sites and large projects with effectively zero dust control measures. Along with this, broken and unpaved stretches and constant movement of vehicles over loose soil are creating continuous dust clouds. In several areas visibility dropped so badly that cars were using fog lights in broad daylight. Respected Commission for Air Quality Management ,Central Pollution Control Board and HSPCB GURUGRAM NORTH kindly note this is not normal dust or routine construction impact. It is uncontrolled dust pollution in a densely populated residential belt. The dust clouds are enveloping our areas. Neither the project proponents nor the public land-owning / road maintenance authorities appear to be making any effort to contain this massive dust generation, nor are they complying with basic construction dust containment guidelines (NGT norms). This is especially severe around Sector 65, directly impacting facing sectors like 49,50,51, 64, 67 and also worsened by dug-up stretches along GCER, turning the entire belt into a continuous dust zone. This is directly affecting residents and school-going children along these roads. 7 prominent schools in and around these sectors ! With GRAP Stage 1 now imposed by the Commission for Air Quality Management, enforcement is supposed to be stricter. But what is visible on ground is clear non-compliance. This needs immediate inspection and strict enforcement. Stop Work Where Norms Are Being Violated . Dust control is a necessity it cannot be optional in a residential zone. #GRAP1 #AirPollution #HealthHazard #DustPollution #Gurugram #Sector65 #Sector50 #NirvanaCountry #GCER #ConstructionDust #RoadDust #PublicHealth Chief Secretary Haryana CMO Haryana MoEF&CC GMDA Haryana State Pollution Control Board Respected political representatives: Rao Inderjit Singh Rao Narbir Singh Arti Singh Rao -requesting your urgent attention to the severe dust pollution situation in Sector 65 / Sector 50 belt. Please ensure strict enforcement by local authorities under GRAP Stage 1 to protect public health and ensure compliance on ground.

Making the Invisible Visible: A Walk for Clean Air This morning, at the invitation of Public Square, I had the honor of using the WalkTalkConnect platform to highlight a cause that touches every breath we take — clean air. I walked with Eng.Tabaro and Ruth, two young professionals passionately advocating for clean air and climate justice. We used a small AirCasting monitor to track real-time PM2.5 pollution levels along our route through Kampala Central Division. The results were sobering: much of the air we breathed was classified as “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups.” What does that mean in real terms? It means that children, the elderly, and people with respiratory conditions are at risk—just by walking through their own city. This is a serious health risk. “Why does this matter?”, you ask…. Because what we can’t see can hurt us. Fine particle pollution comes from vehicles, open burning, construction dust, and industrial emissions. These tiny particles get deep into our lungs and bloodstream, increasing the risk of asthma, heart disease, strokes, and even cancer. It’s a silent health crisis hiding in plain sight. As a country, we need to enact national air quality legislation, invest in clean public transport, regulate industrial emissions, and increase green spaces in our cities. Clean air is not a luxury. It’s a right. Today reminded me that we all deserve to breathe freely. Clean air is not a luxury. It’s a right. #WalkTalkConnect #KampalaBreathes #WalkForCleanAirUG Joseph Beyanga Joe Walker Anthony Natif Mujuni Raymond

In my public television special “The Story of Fascism in Europe,” we learn from Europeans whose families lived through fascism that a strong democracy requires vigilant and engaged citizens. We are all participants, we are all responsible, and freedom isn’t guaranteed. That lesson feels especially urgent today, as we watch extremist forces dismantle protections for immigrants, people living in poverty, and marginalized communities. They're counting on us to be intimidated and to stay quiet — but social justice organizations, such as Sojourners, refuse to be silent. For years, Sojourners has been doing the essential work of rooting Christianity not in nationalism, but in social justice, by equipping congregations with tools to bring clarity where there's confusion, hope where there's despair, and love where there's fear. Like Sojourners, I see Christian nationalism as a perversion of my faith. That’s why I'm putting my money where my values are and challenging our traveling community to join me in supporting this work at where I’m matching every donation, dollar for dollar, up to $50,000. Together, we can empower Sojourners with $100,000 to fuel their work at this critical moment. As I like to say, I see Sojourners not as a charity but as a service — and I believe our donations are an investment in our collective future. When we support Sojourners, we amplify our love and put it to work for justice in our communities. Sojourners has a crucial goal of raising $350,000 by September 30, and this initiative is part of that. Again, join me at and I’ll double every dollar up to $50,000 — giving your donation twice the power to build the future we believe in. Thank you!
