I'm SO BLOODY FURIOUS with Doctors Right Now

I had a doctor point his finger at me while my husband was speaking and the doc interrupted him and said, "I want to hear from her, not you, and you have one minute". It was a Friday and just before closing. Needless to say I put that doctor politely in his place. He kicked us both out of his office. We were in shock. I ended up at urgent care. My husband was completely embarrassed because he stutters. He was trying so hard to help me. I think it made him feel like a failure.

Unfortunately, in my experience the majority of doctors have appalling communication skills and become very defensive when they are challenged in any way. Refusing to speak to a relative, especially a fellow professional, is nothing less than just damn rude.

I feel like doctors don’t want women bringing advocates to appointments because it holds the doctor accountable. They often don’t listen to us and gaslight us, which is why women should never go alone—though sadly, many older women don’t have anyone to go with them.

You have no idea. A lot of people are waking up to the ways of the medical monopoly.

I believe it’s because so many physicians have inflated but fragile egos. It’s more reassuring for them to be in complete control and to eliminate any possible threats

You are absolutely right about communication! I am so thankful that you speak out about this. I could right a book about how many times I have seen miscommunications in healthcare situations. Than you for you!

I am so sorry this happened with your cousin. Sounds like this particular Dr must be a bit insecure.

I can tell you’re bloody mad. We should form a group and protest outside a hospital.
