Arachnid autist here. This only really happens with Xenesthis immanis/some Pamphobeteus females and humming frogs. The frog has a chemical it secretes that cues the tarantula not to attack it. The reason the frog doesn’t eat the spiderlings is its diet is mainly ants

MY question is, after a tarantula grows a bond with one of these frogs, will it still eat OTHER frogs? Or does it see ALL frogs as their lil buddies now

I think I have an idea for a Disney remake of The Odd Couple.

Another important note is that if the original tarantula dies before the frog does, her largest daughter will inherit them.

Its like me keeping spiders in my room to eat mosquitoes whilst in return i give them shelter to protect them from the cold

My favorite topic BUGS! Exotic keeper of 24 tarantulas chiming in. The species is Xenesthis immanis (Colombian lesser black) they are a team. The frog keeps the tarantula's burrow clean by eating ants and other small pests that would otherwise threaten the tarantula's eggs.
