It was like they had taken the trauma inducing scene of Murphy getting blasted in Robocop and placed it in a kids film. Seeing this happen to Johnny 5 was devastating.

You know, there is still value in this IP. I'm surprised they haven't rebooted it.

Oh man, I remember this vividly! Really disturbed me as a kid, the scene is the epitome of evil because he trusted those guys, thought he had a friendship with them, but was horribly deceived whilst he pleaded for his life. One of the scarring moments of cinema.

Did 80s and 90s kids dirty... had to watch so much traumatic stuff. Killing off Optimus, beating Johnny 5, just every time you turned around a childhood favorite got whacked. No wonder TV shows kill everyone off now a days we grew up on it

As a kid I always loved the two movies. I never questioned them. As an adult I always wondered: for the cost it took NOVA robotics to make these things, especially since they were designed for battle, how could they use parts so “fragile “? 😁 Certainly no T800 series.
