I genuinely cannot understand how someone can watch this story and still stand there, looking at two women, and somehow decide that the wrong one is the victim. On one side, you have a girl (Yıldız) who has been mistreated her entire life. in the wise words of taylor swift, “a man is allowed to react, a woman can only overreact.” they cut the camera to her while she was still in shock & she took a sip of her drink. that is not even a reaction. this whole situation has blown out of proportion throughout the media. you’d think things would’ve gotten better for women in the past five years since she said this, but that’s not the case. this has made one thing abundantly clear, women are not allowed to react when they are blatantly disrespected. even if they don’t react, they’re still overreacting, since there is this perpetuating stereotype that women are “dramatic & emotional.” she’s just sitting there trying to enjoy her night that she was attending because of HER accomplishments & the records she broke with her movie about her life-changing, record-smashing tour. yet, she was only mentioned once, only ten minutes in, to be devalued to her relationship & to poke fun at the ways the media has been tormenting her for years. you can not tell me that is funny. she’s been through hell throughout her career, she’s heard these jokes a million times—she’s over it. she shouldn’t have to laugh at a joke that offended her to appease anyone. personally, i’m extremely proud of her for not feeling it was necessary to be a people pleaser & laugh, which is what she typically would’ve done int the past. that shows growth, that shows that she finally recognizes her worth. she finally realized that she doesn’t have to put up being painfully disrespected. she’s allowed to think a rude joke isn’t funny, it just made her uncomfortable. if she looks uncomfortable, it means he crossed the line, regardless of if you think it was funny or not. it’s evident that this was an under reaction. she kept her composure & responded to the situation perfectly. however, even though she responded perfectly, she’s still getting tremendous amounts of hate for this. this makes it abundantly clear that men in this society will always have it out for women who are successful—especially when that success was created all on their own, since women are not allowed to be successful in their eyes. that is blatant misogyny, just like the joke they think she is a horrible person for not laughing at. of course they think the joke was funny, they’re a bunch of misogynists themselves.

NHS nightmare update: After three days, my wife still hadn't received an ultrasound or an appointment for one, despite suspected deep vein thrombosis (DVT). She runs out of blood-thinner injections in a few days, but we were just told wasn't considered "Urgent" by the Radiology department, and hasn't been referred DVT clinic, despite the risk to her and the babies. We were told on Monday and Tuesday to expect a call from Scans that day, and to call back if we hadn't heard anything. We call back today, and the below is what we got before being passed onto the switchboard. (Excuse my disheveled appearance.) After being passed between departments, we called Maternity Triage again, and a kind English woman answered the phone, listened to everything that happened, and said she would call us back with news within half an hour. Five minutes later, she called back with a scan appointment for tomorrow morning, and immediate follow-up with Maternity. Couldn't have been more helpful. Hopefully we get to the bottom of this tomorrow, and she gets prescribed the treatment she needs to keep her and the girls safe. In the meantime, my Nan has been taken into hospital and kept overnight for complications related to her chronic blood cancer. It's treatable, but not curable, and by all accounts she's being well attended to. A stressful time for the Tomlinsons. Thanks for all your prayers and support.

I am devastated right now. Tuesday, Ope Ola Grace called my attention to a woman who she saw at Sweet Sensation, OPIC Abeokuta with a child who appeared visibly malnourished. When I went even o check, she was no longer there. I finally got the chance to go see her moments ago and I met the baby like this. I don't know what to do. I'm thinking the worst but this woman is still holding on to the child that she's sleeping. Tried telling her to follow me to the hospital, but she refused. This woman rented an Airbnb while in Portugal. She’s from the states and is used to turning the key to the right to unlock the doors. However when she tried doing this here, it wouldn’t work because you use to turn the key to the left. Other people are criticizing her and blaming her for not knowing how to open a door. But as with many things when going abroad, we don’t think about something as simple as that. Should the owner have at least showed her how to do it knowing she’s not from around there?

How did that #Corrie episode today turn into Lisa hate? I'm so confused by what she's done this time. The reactions in both scenes are that of any other loving mother, It hurts them more than us when we fly the nest, I think more so if it's an only child. Lisa is a copper, she sees all the bad in the world, which will always be at the forefront of her mind. Shes well aware of what can happen in a big city like London. Her worries are valid, it doesn't make her any less happy for Betsy and her achievement but there was always going to be reservations.
