@btbsoco There was never a Byzantine Empire. The people referred to themselves as the Roman Empire. The term "Byzantine" is a 16th c invention by a Christian German scholar, coping with the fact that it was the Ottomans, not the Germans, who ended the Roman Empire, and are its heirs.
