i'm trying to master matrix multiplication. help me out here. column vector notation was just a mistake right? why do i have to flip it over and put it on top when multiplying? why not just write it horizontally and on top by default?

I built MatmulFlow ( — an interactive tool that makes matrix multiplication dimensions visual, part of my AI by Hand ✍️ series. Matrix multiplication dimensions are confusing. Which is the inner dimension? Columns of the first or rows of the second? And when you chain five multiplications together, it gets worse. The idea: represent matrices as rectangles. Shift the second matrix up and to the right. The edges that must align become obvious. The result fills in the remaining space. No memorization. You can see it. It extends to chains. Stack vertically for left-multiplication. Stack horizontally for right-multiplication. Resize any matrix and watch the dimensions "flow" through the entire chain. Give it a try!

FSD just gained a new lifetime user. I saw this posted on reddit and thought I would share it here. ---- I am not a regular subscriber, but I was getting over COVID. With the foggy brain I subscribed to FSD just for the month to help me get around while recovering. I am fully recovered but get to enjoy the rest of the month of FSD. Car updated from 13.2.9 yesterday to 14.2. Today on my way home this happened! I couldn't figure out why it was slamming on the brakes until a mere second before the deer jumped out. I am so thankful. It doesn't replace human intervention but all the extra 'eyes' help. I'm still in shock and so happy I didn't destroy the deer and the car. source:

I'm sitting here crying at 5 AM. Watch this. That shoe belongs to my 2-year-old daughter. It went missing from the porch two weeks ago. I thought it was gone forever. A fox just brought it back. It walked right up to our door, dropped it on the mat, and sat there until my dog acknowledged it. Then it left. I don't know how the fox knew. I don't know why it cared.
