Ana Sayfaya Dön

I'm very disappointed by the ongoing exchanges, accusations, and counter-accusations surrounding the situation involving former NTV journalist Kimani Mbugua. Hebu let me offer counsel to Obinna TV Studios and Kimani Mbugua's father regarding their continuous exposure of Kimani across various social media platforms. It is important for Kimani Mbugua's...

@ogaobinnatv If you're an adult and a Male And you're suffering DO NOT TELL ANYONE. The probability that people will react with compassion and offer you assistance is low.

@ogaobinnatv Kimani Mbugua atasaidika when he wants to. Voluntary rehab ndio husaidia. Alafu pia, inakaa kuna unresolved issues kati ya the dad na Kimani. That needs some ironing out. Family therapy could help the family

@ogaobinnatv I agree bt Obinna has thrived by exposing people's "private" affairs to the limelight. Even when it's causing more harm than good.

INTERESTING STORY OF KIMANI MBUGUA. Following reports that Kimani Mbugua has gone relapsed and gone back to the streets, today, I dispatched a team to locate him. He was found in Makongeni estate, Thika, Kiambu county. He was brought to our headquarters, where we are currently overseeing his well-being after providing him with new clothing and allowing him to take a refreshing shower. I engaged him in an extensive counselling session and decided to offer him a second chance. Given his current condition, we are unable to fly him to Mombasa as initially planned; instead, he will be driven back to the Mombasa Women's Rehabilitation Centre tomorrow. I have chosen not to involve Kimani's family at this stage, but I will ensure that he remains at the rehabilitation centre. Upon his full recovery, he will have the opportunity to work there, similarly to Conjestina Achieng, who has been discharged and offered a position to provide counselling services at the centre. Former NTV journalist Eunice Omollo, who was admitted to Mathari Mental Hospital alongside Kimani and later transferred to the Mombasa Women's Rehabilitation Centre, is now employed at K24 TV. Recently, she produced two documentaries—one focusing on tuberculosis and the other on World Bipolar Day. This is a positive development, as she has successfully returned to her profession. In contrast, there is a concerning case involving Nabala Nasibo, who resumed heavy drinking after being discharged from rehabilitation. Therefore, I am committed to ensuring that Kimani receives the necessary care and support for his full recovery. Stay tuned for part two.

"During Covid, I started working at Kenyans.co.ke as Head of Content, and one of the people working under me was a brilliant, vibrant, and super-talented young man named Kimani Mbugua. For the six months that I worked at Kimani and I had various conversations about anything and everything. He shared with me his life story, how he had worked at NTV, Citizen, and how he eventually ended up at Kenyans. Kimani was, hands down, the best reporter I'd ever met. His ability to walk up to total strangers and ask them candid questions about politics, life, and social issues was unmatched. He was inviting, warm, and never hesitated to execute even my craziest ideas. One day, I got a brilliant idea for a show, a concept centered on telling the backstories of street names. I didn’t think twice. I quickly walked Kimani through the format, and we were off to shoot the pilot. He delivered the assignment like a pro. We shot a couple more shows together, and I particularly enjoyed the daily shoot, “Speed Feed,” still at Kenyans. Later on, when I changed jobs and became Head of Digital at a real estate company, I remembered the exemplary talent of that young man and called him for yet another gig, which, in true Kimani fashion, he overdelivered on. We spoke candidly about the issues and challenges he was facing in marriage, at home, and in life in general. At his depression wasn’t as severe as what I would later see on social media. I tried reaching out privately, but the Kimani I knew was gone. It broke my heart, and I had no idea what to do or how to help. I reached out to others, but they too felt helpless in fighting the disease he was battling. I know two Kimanis... I write this broken, but also hopeful that he is in a better place. To all who tried to help him, I salute you. @MikeSonko, Obinna, you have my utmost respect for your actions. This one is hard, because it was close. It’s hard because I tried but lost. It’s hard because we’ve lost an amazing human being. It’s hard because he was sick, and we couldn’t fix the situation." - Astar - The Light Rest now, Kimani Until we meet again
