Scott Satterfield is relentless. He started his career making $7k as an assistant coach. Then in 2012, Satterfield was named App State’s new head coach and led the Mountaineers to 3 Sun Belt conference championships in 4 years before heading to Louisville. His stint at Louisville was a breeze compared to what was ahead of him at Cincinnati. In his first 72 hours as Cincinnati’s new head coach, he didn’t sleep because he knew the challenge that was ahead of him. Building a roster based on his values, and the most important value to him is character, if you don’t have great character, you won’t play at Cincinnati. This is Coach Satterfield story — unfiltered.

Jan. 31, 1995 — Thirty years ago, OTD, the Denver Broncos announced the hiring of Mike Shanahan as their eleventh head coach. Shanahan led the Broncos to back-to-back Super Bowl titles in 1997 and 1998. He won 146 games with Denver. His Pro Football Hall of Fame induction is long overdue.

Filmmaker James Cameron says his family has permanently moved to New Zealand because it's "sane" and "actually believes in science" compared to the US. "They already had a 98% [Covid] vaccination rate. This is why I love New Zealand. People there are, for the most part, sane, as opposed to the United States," Cameron claims. "Where would you rather live?" "I'm not there for the scenery," Cameron snaps after the interviewer defends the US and compliments New Zealand's beauty. "I'm there for the sanity." Anyone who's seen one of the 3-hour long Avatar movies knows Cameron isn't an authority on sanity...

Massive blow up on Radio New Zealand this morning. Host Corin Dann completely loses his cool after being directly accused of green left bias by New Zealand First leader Winston Peters. The blow up happened during a discussion on new male female defining legislation NZ First proposes to bring to parliament. Mr Dann denies the allegations, saying he is only doing his job, which entails on occasions acting as the “devil’s advocate”. The problem with this is that the devil Mr Dann advocates for is almost invariably on the progressive left. One seldom if ever hears any questions or challenges sourced from the right or conservative sector of politics. The Greens and Chloe Swarbrick in particular, are always treated with kid gloves by Radio New Zealand, and seldom interrupted. IMHO, Radio NZ needs to be defunded or sold off, and I hope one day it happens. As Mr Peters says it will. Make doubly sure you keep that promise please Winston.

The reason why most of their criticisms of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai will not stand is because he was their favorite throughout his eight years in office. For eight years, they praised him, defended him, and celebrated his policies. You can stop supporting someone while they are still in office if you genuinely disagree with their actions. You can withdraw your support and openly state your reasons at the time. That is fair. But if you kept quiet, applauded him, or benefited politically while he was serving, then turning around after he leaves office to condemn everything you said then that makes you a hypocrite in my books. And, as long as this video exists, the "it's because of appointment angle" will not hold.

Carlos Yordanis Aldana was arrested this Sunday on charges of stabbing his girlfriend, Yannelis de la Caridad, to death in Florida. After serving more than three years in prison in Cuba, Aldana arrived in the USA to live with Yannelis, with whom he had been in a long-distance relationship for over six years. But less than two weeks after their emotional reunion at the airport, the story ended in tragedy: Yannelis was murdered, and he is the prime suspect. UNBELIEVABLE!

After 32 years at Utah, Kyle Whittingham is entering the final chapter of his coaching career as he takes over at Michigan. At 66, his age was once seen as a potential drawback, but it may actually be a strength. Whittingham is a future Hall of Fame coach with one notable box left to check: a national championship. Michigan gives him his first legitimate shot at winning it all, and that sense of urgency could work directly in the Wolverines’ favor. #GoBlue

WOW. Marcelo Bielsa is 70 years of age, and his parting message to Uruguay carries a lesson every coach should sit with. No group is the same. No individual is the same. Nobody. Bielsa admits he has never tried to be the “friendly” coach. He values order, discipline, seriousness, obsession. That has made him one of the most respected minds in football. But even Bielsa seems to accept something powerful here: That approach does not work for every player. It does not work in every environment. And knowledge alone is never enough. As a coach, you have to find a way to connect. Quote us on this: “You can have all the knowledge in the world, but it is absolutely useless if the people playing don’t like you. Player management and people management might not be on coaching courses, but don’t be kidded by associations. It is the most important quality a coach can have.” Football is about tactics, detail, preparation and standards. But above all, it is about people. So many coaches out there fail to grasp this, they think they can shout their way to development or success, and this day and age you simply can't.

🚨David Beckham on England’s World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina: 🗣️ “You only have to look at the faces of the England supporters to understand how painful this is. They’re frustrated, they’re heartbroken and they’re asking questions about some of the biggest moments in the game. There are decisions that England will feel deserved a closer look, and I understand why emotions are running high. In a World Cup semi-final, every incident is magnified because one moment can change everything. The players gave everything, but the referee decided who he wants to win tonight,Argentina scored and offside goal, they were violent on the pitch with no intentions to play the ball. Tonight the players will leave feeling that some crucial moments didn’t fall their way and maybe Argentina was favoured again tonight. That’s the hardest part to accept after you’ve fought for every ball. *Whether people agree or disagree with the officials, this match will be debated for a long time. England will feel they had a real chance of reaching the final, and that’s why this defeat hurts so much.”

"It was created in 1992, precisely to prove that Scotland couldn't be an independent country..." "This is accounting abuse on a giant scale. The figures that are used in GERS are flawed because the UK government supplies what is, in my opinion, and I'm allowed to have this opinion, flawed apportionments of UK national data. And Scotland has no control over this. "What it's charged for is a matter for the UK government to decide, and not for Scotland to decide. America sought independence for less reason than that, and these estimates would all change if independence was to be a reality. "But if you listen to a unionist, you would never believe that. They love GERS, they always have. And let's recall that it was created in 1992, precisely to prove that Scotland couldn't be an independent country. "And more than 30 years on, the Scottish government, headed by the SNP for well over a decade now, is still producing this nonsense data and looks incredibly weak as a result for doing so. "Year after year, I have begged the SNP to change the methodology, to put forward a proposal as to how this can be properly accounted for, and to show at least the degree of expense which is reallocated, which they would challenge, and that which is not. "But it doesn't happen, and that's ridiculous, it's misleading, it's untruthful and it's politically loaded against Scotland. It's time to scrap it, to replace it and to show Scotland's real potential." by Richard Murphy Salvo.Scot Liberation Scotland Committee Sara Salyers John Brown ISP - Independence for Scotland Party Liberation Scotland Committee Norrie Hunter ALBA Party The SNP

Are you wondering why New Zealand rugby appears to be in an unstoppable slide into sporting irrelevancy? Listen to this incredible interview with its CEO and you’ll know exactly why its crashing. Heather Du Plessis-Allan asks about the unpopular decision to do a haka in support of the Maori Party hikoi. Her questions are quite reasonable and fair. In reply Mr Robinson utters a plethora of meaningless word salads made up of empty management buzz terms. It is one of the most appalling interviews I’ve ever heard. (numerous long pauses where Mr Robinson struggles to frame his answers have been cut out) Mark also suggests the action had the full support of the team. However leaks from within suggest this was not the case, and that some players were unhappy with the haka and refused to take part in the flag photo. IMHO NZ rugby won’t escape its tailspin as long as Mark stays at the helm. It is a complete mystery to me as to how someone who thinks and speaks so incoherently ever got the job in the first place? Well, another one run loss, 7-6 to Southern Miss on the road after an 8-7 loss to UCLA on Sunday. You're in it each time, and just can't push it through. What else can you say? To their credit, Southern Miss jumped on Mississippi State early in the game, like they did last year in a 3-0 win. But, to their credit, Mississippi State came back and took a lead. It was back and forth, but in the end... Here are Coach Brian O' Connor's postgame comments. We are not posting any player comments tonight, though. They stood there, took the questions, and answered, but the PA Music was Rolling Stones level, and it wouldn't be fair to you or them to publish it. Fortunately, the volume level was lower when Coach Oak came over. He tells it straight, like he always does, and face it, there are a bunch of tired folks right now ready to head for home and sleep in their beds tonight for the first time in a week. Lipscomb comes in this weekend before many of us head south next week for Biloxi. We're going to celebrate Ron Polk's 50th anniversary of his first MSU game on Sunday, and the season will go on. Tonight was a tough one, but it's a long way to Tiperarie, and Omaha.

I asked Amile Jefferson if he’s getting feedback from people like Joe Mazzulla, Jon Scheyer, and Coach K during his opportunity as the Celtics’ Summer League head coach. “All those people you named are really in my corner and have been super helpful to me in my career. “Jon's one of my closest friends. He's really smart. He's an amazing coach. So as much as I can talk to him; the feedback that I get from Joe is always really good, and he's been amazing to my growth and my career. “So especially those two, being able to talk to them before games, after games, just making sure I'm good and knowing that I have their support is really helpful to me.”
